guys, my cousin is serving with 1/5, Charlie company. he was on a mounted patrol and hit an i.e.d. yesterday. the blast tossed him around his turret and he smashed his head up pretty good. luckily none of his fellow Marines were killed or hurt too badly. he has a concussion and has lost his motor skills. he cant tie his boots or do anything real simple like that. it f###ing kills me that im not with him right now. i hate not being with him. please keep him and the rest of 1/5 in your prayers. theyre in a pretty hot area of the 'stan right now and have suffered a good many casualties. Semper Fi gents.

I hope he recovers fully and that it's no worse than you describe.

Don't be too hard on yourself, there's only so much a man can do and it sounds like you're pulling more than your share as it is.

We just had a fellow K-9 handler lose both legs. It's happening more and more and will only get worse. Only thing you can do is learn from it and carry on. We leave in a few months and everytime I hear of something else, it just makes me train harder and more efficiently with my dog. Don't beat yourself up.
