This is my custom Remington 700 Long Action that is built on the McRee's Precision Stock System that I've been testing for them. I wanted something that I could change-out barrels fairly easy so I could use different calibers in the same system so I had a Savage Barrel-Nut installed.

Currently it has a 18" 5R .308 barrel installed that has had a vortex installed. I also have a 24" 30-06 barrel in the safe for a future test I'm planning on doing.

I can use either use the AI or Accurate-Mag .300 Win. Mag. Detachable magazines. To feed the .308 or 30-06 I had to shape the feed lips, but they feed find with no issues what so ever.

I haven't gotten to fire it yet because McRee is modifying my Butt-stock & cheek-rest with an improvement I suggested. Hopefully the parts will be back soon.

Sorry for the delay in response...it is in fact a versa-pod, I'll get some pics of the barrel nut in the next few days....I might even get out to shoot it this weekend.

Respectfully,

Re: My custom 700.....

Well it's been awhile since I posted an update....I just got some pics of the rifle completed....I've been working closely with McCree Precision on the design of their stock; recently I suggested a modification that has been implemented on all future releases. As for the barrel nut, I used a Savage Barrel nut, so all I have to do is use a Savage Barrel Nut Wrench, switch out the barrel & use a headspace gauge for the desired caliber. Right now I have an 18" 7.62 barrel on it, but I will be switching it out for a 24" 30-06 in the next week.

Upon return from vacation in August, I should have some pics of shot groups & range ops.
