A couple months ago I bought a CZ 75 SP01 Shadow Target for USPSA Production class. I was pretty impressed with it, and wanted a gun for USPSA Limited class, so decided to try another CZ. I had my mind set on a Tactical Sport in 40S&W, but they are a little hard to find and I had heard the grip is big. So, I ordered up a CTS from CZ Custom, which is essentially a reworked Tactical Sport. CZ Custom cuts the frame's dustcover shorter to give the gun a little better balance, hand fits the slide ot the frame, removes the front and rear grip checkering to make the grip more manageable, does a trigger job, and I'm not sure what else. This is one of the most amazing shooting pistols I have ever owned.

Re: My CZ pistols

Another CZ fan here.

I like the idea of the CTS, or the CTS-LS. It appears to be a CZ-75 frame with a Tactical Sports slide. Kinda cool considering I could keep using my SP01 mags, but have a longer slide and barrel.

Re: My CZ pistols

Really? That kinda sucks.

So why is it that you can't find a factory Tactical Sports pistol, but you can find a custom Tactical Sports pistol from Angus and company? Seems fishy.

Is this one also a Tactical Sports frame, or a 75 series frame?

Re: My CZ pistols

I easily get 20 rds of 40 in this with that extended baseplate. I'm not sure if a regular 75 magazine would get that many in 40, and I'm guessing that's the advantage to starting with a TS frame.

I know CZ's as a whole are hard to get now. I don't know if Angus is buying whole guns and converting them or starting from parts. Either way, the CTS is selling for almost twice what the TS is, so the TS seems to fly off the shelves pretty quick.

I'm not sure on the link you sent. Said it holds 19 rds, but you can get 19 out of a 75 frame with the right magazine. My hunch is it's a 75 frame rather than a TS frame. Just a guess though.

Re: My CZ pistols

Looks yours has been shot a little, just like it should look. When I was looking for a TS the 9mm models were easier to find. My guess is that's because it takes 40cal to make major in USPSA. Just a guess though.

Re: My CZ pistols

Steppenwolf the CTS is available in 9 and 40, and as Glock24 is pointing out it is a custom pistol from CZ Custom. I feel it is the finest shooting pistol I've owned, and I've owned my share including two STI 2011s.

Re: My CZ pistols

I love the flat trigger. There must be something to it - I see a lot of the top USPSA shooters using flat triggers in their 1911/2011s.

My trigger control is not everything I'd like it to be but this trigger is very forgiving. Not sure how much of that is the flat trigger versus other factors, but I like it a lot

I've been hearing great things about Dan Wesson 1911s, but have never owned or even shot one. They have been part of CZ since 2005.

Re: My CZ pistols

I have only owned one CZ, a P01. I considered a Shadow for competition use but ended up with a Glock 35. Do you have issues with manipulating the slide since you have less to grab?

Re: My CZ pistols

I have both a Glock 34 and the CZ Shadow that I use for USPSA Production. The Glock is in every way easier to use if I have not gas the time to practice ( including racking the slide in a hurry). I think the Shadow has some advantages if I've been practicing, mostly to do with the nice single stage trigger.

Re: My CZ pistols

CZs are awesome. SP01 Shadows are hard to beat. The CZ custom shop also makes a couple of custom carry pistols based on the compact models (Protek and SDP) that are great.

They now have a short reset trigger modification. Takes a bunch of the pretravel out of the single action trigger pull. My shadow is in the queue for this mod. Can't wait to get it back.

Re: My CZ pistols

I just bought from CZ Custom a SP01 Shadow Custom Black. The bummer I have right now is it was shipped with no mags because they don't have any 10 round in stock to replace the 19. Since I live in the penal colony known as New York we must have 10 round mags. So I have a $1200 pistol with no mags.

Got to love NY. Of course I can't find mags other than Gunclips in Cali. and they won't answer their phone.

I'll be glad to take it off your hands then.
