They went to online classes after two days of classes. Now, less than a week later, we found out yesterday that they're throwing them out of the dorm. After one week of a 10 week quarter, they're only refunding 38% of housing and meal cards.

I'm leaving in a couple hours to go get her and all her stuff and bring her home.

After that, I'm going to work to pick up a drafting table that my boss gave me and set it up for a desk for her to work on.

If you had the foresight to pay with a credit card you can now contest 100% of the charge for nondelivery. If you paid by check then hopefully you can form a class to sue the university.

You may get your credit card money back but the university will just stop you from enrolling next semester and hold your records so you can’t take tour credits to another school until you paid up.

How can you be so sure that Universities are a protected class of business that can force customers to pay for services never delivered? You might be right, but if you are.....well best I shutup.

In any business a credit card chargeback has to be balanced to how much you need the business in the future. Colleges have you by the balls if you’re not willing or able to walk away.

I got on their Facebook page earlier this morning, and started a discussion about the amount that we are being refunded. I was courteous, and polite. But I said enough to get everybody worked up about it. I can’t cause too much of a stink, because the firm I work for does millions of dollars of business, design work, for her school each year. I can’t risk getting that cut off. But I can let everybody else froth at the mouth. ?

Yep, I'm worried as well. Two flights from NY for my daughter. Plus my wife and mother in law returned from UK the day before. And they may have been exposed by a family member who works in a hospital in the UK. She started to having intense fatigue, body aches, dry cough and difficulty breathing. They decided to leave early. We are into our second day of a 14 day quarantine.

My daughter is with my in laws. Her school in Tulsa sent them on spring break with all their school materials. They are keeping dorms and cafeteria open for takeout but it is so painful to go through the rigamarole that she‘s not going back. They already announced that there are no refunds on room & board. I guess they can say that if they keep em open.

Ha! Got an e-mail today from Montana State with a form to fill out to "apply" for a refund on housing and meals. Looks like the student must have a "justifiable" reason for moving out to get a refund. That's a step in the right direction, but a justifiable reason should be obvious if they follow CDC guidelines. Might be a rodeo coming on this one...

Many years ago and before the pc craziness I picked up a bid package from gatech. Lady telling me about it asked if we were a minority co. I laughed and said if being a white owned co in atlanta counts, then yes. I was the only one laughing.

QUESTION for those with kids in Universities that are being sent home and only receiving partial paybacks.

What did the housing contracts say? You should have a copy of it or should be able to get a signed copy of it.

There may be a separate contract for meal tickets (dining facilities).

I suspect that the universities will be first in line for the bail out. I suspect by the time it's over with the taxpayer will have reimbursed the university's around the nation many times over for their losses while thousands of destroyed small businesses will be left to flounder in the wreckage of the economy.

What if these students realize their degrees aren’t worth the $100K plus these colleges charge? Or they realize not everyone needs a college degree? Or that not everyone is cut out for college? Or that the basketweaving or art history degrees means working as a waitress or bar tender after you graduate with $100K debt?
