They went to online classes after two days of classes. Now, less than a week later, we found out yesterday that they're throwing them out of the dorm. After one week of a 10 week quarter, they're only refunding 38% of housing and meal cards.
    :bill:

I'm leaving in a couple hours to go get her and all her stuff and bring her home.

After that, I'm going to work to pick up a drafting table that my boss gave me and set it up for a desk for her to work on.

I'll pray for you and your daughter to have a save trip. How far is the drive for you. Pack a picnic basket in case rest stops are closed.

If you had the foresight to pay with a credit card you can now contest 100% of the charge for nondelivery. If you paid by check then hopefully you can form a class to sue the university.

You may get your credit card money back but the university will just stop you from enrolling next semester and hold your records so you can’t take tour credits to another school until you paid up.

How can you be so sure that Universities are a protected class of business that can force customers to pay for services never delivered? You might be right, but if you are.....well best I shutup.

I went to a university. They have a plethora of options when it comes to breaking it off in you sideways.

In any business a credit card chargeback has to be balanced to how much you need the business in the future. Colleges have you by the balls if you’re not willing or able to walk away.

Montana State went to all on-line classes, but did not kick the students out of the dorm or cafeterias. We moved our son out last weekend so he wouldn't be exposed to the germs in the dorm. MSU announced in advance that there would be no refunds for housing or meal plans.

Tell them they'll be applying this terms payments to the next open term.

I got on their Facebook page earlier this morning, and started a discussion about the amount that we are being refunded. I was courteous, and polite. But I said enough to get everybody worked up about it. I can’t cause too much of a stink, because the firm I work for does millions of dollars of business, design work, for her school each year. I can’t risk getting that cut off. But I can let everybody else froth at the mouth. ?

Went through the same thing with my daughter. Her school in New York, extended spring break. They then decided to close the school for remote learning. Haven't heard who much were are being refunded.

Yep, I'm worried as well. Two flights from NY for my daughter. Plus my wife and mother in law returned from UK the day before. And they may have been exposed by a family member who works in a hospital in the UK. She started to having intense fatigue, body aches, dry cough and difficulty breathing. They decided to leave early. We are into our second day of a 14 day quarantine.

My daughter is with my in laws. Her school in Tulsa sent them on spring break with all their school materials. They are keeping dorms and cafeteria open for takeout but it is so painful to go through the rigamarole that she‘s not going back. They already announced that there are no refunds on room & board. I guess they can say that if they keep em open.

Kinda like saying you are free to buy a supressor, it will just be such a pain that most will abstain.

Ha! Got an e-mail today from Montana State with a form to fill out to "apply" for a refund on housing and meals. Looks like the student must have a "justifiable" reason for moving out to get a refund. That's a step in the right direction, but a justifiable reason should be obvious if they follow CDC guidelines. Might be a rodeo coming on this one...

Many years ago and before the pc craziness I picked up a bid package from gatech. Lady telling me about it asked if we were a minority co. I laughed and said if being a white owned co in atlanta counts, then yes. I was the only one laughing.

Don't worry. It's all a hoax...there is no deal with COVID-19 for young ones.

The schools can make any rules they want. Best stay clear of them until we sort America out again. Best paying jobs don't need any College. Best sit tight for 2 years while it sorts itself out.

QUESTION for those with kids in Universities that are being sent home and only receiving partial paybacks.

What did the housing contracts say? You should have a copy of it or should be able to get a signed copy of it.

There may be a separate contract for meal tickets (dining facilities).

IF you are in Georgia and are looking to move forward with a lawsuit, contact me by PM. I have gone up against them (Universities) and won in federal court.

    Hope this helps.

What I'm about to say has nothing to do with Srgt Hulka or his daughter.

I suspect that the universities will be first in line for the bail out. I suspect by the time it's over with the taxpayer will have reimbursed the university's around the nation many times over for their losses while thousands of destroyed small businesses will be left to flounder in the wreckage of the economy.

The Chinese virus deliberately spread thru the world by the ChiCom master class is the proximate cause. But don't forget that Democrats and the media have been praying for this very destruction since the day Donald Trump was elected.

Friend’s daughter is 22 and currently in an induced coma in an oxygen chamber. Family is quarantined.

    ...just saying.

What if these students realize their degrees aren’t worth the $100K plus these colleges charge? Or they realize not everyone needs a college degree? Or that not everyone is cut out for college? Or that the basketweaving or art history degrees means working as a waitress or bar tender after you graduate with $100K debt? These kind of dangerous thoughts could cause the collapse of the gravy train these colleges and universities have enjoyed for decades.
