My friend, about forty minutes south and twenty minutes east is a large outdoor range with 1000 yard lanes available. Manatee Gun & Archery Club. Nice place. Bullet Blasters in Palmetto is the distributor. You should definitely check them out. It's a little drive from Tampa, but hey I make it every day to go to school. :)

Thanks, Chris! Now that you mention it, the name of that range does ring a bell. I'll definitely check it out.
I might give Bullet Blasters a call tomorrow, and see if they have a PST 6-24 FFP in the store for me to look at.

You are on the right path, but I would just say would has already been said; get into reloading asap. I can load match ammo for less than what u pay for factory ammo from walmart. I would say that the ammo will be what shrinks your groups the most.

Time for an update!!! Its been around 4 months since I started the build. Upgrades to this Remington 700 include an HS-Precision PST-0012 stock, Timney 512 trigger set to 2#s, CDI Precision DBM assembly, Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 MRAD, Vortex Precision Match 30mm low rings, EGW 20 moa base, Harris 9-13" bipod, Eagle rifle stock pack, and KRG Bolt Lift. Soon to be upgrades include Varmint Bolt Knob from Phoenix Custom Rifles, and their single point truing service as well as a Bartlein barrel. I am waiting to do the truing and re-barrel until this spring, and am debating whether or not to wait for the bolt knob upgrade until then too. Funds are beginning to run thin, but if I sell enough of my old parts I can justify doing it sooner.

Not a bad group of 4 shots at 100 yards with FGM 168 gr. Kinda jerked on one of them and there was mild wind that pushed the other three of my shots just a hair to the right. The rifle can definitely outshoot me at this point.

I just measured these holes center to center and the three there are WELL under 0.5" and the fourth I jerked on was just at 3/8" center to center from the farthest shot. It appears the rifle outshoots me drastically. I need to practice before I send this thing off to PCR for truing and re-barrel!!!

Probably no great benefit in dropping $600+ on a new barrel and chambering/installing it until you've spent a lot of time with the one you have. I'd spend the money on a decent set of reloading dies and other reloading equipment first, and think about a barrel once you've shot out the one you have.

Rifle looks great I'm just wondering why you're doing a barrel swap? Is it because of the current twist rate? In my opinion you are better off spending that money on a reloading kit and a muzzle brake. Tuning a load for the barrel you have and get your skills together for shooting at longer distances in the wind. The only reason to rebarrel with the accuracy you're getting is to change calibers which if you're getting a new barrel would DEFINATELY be the way to go.

The muzzle brake on your rifle wouldn't be because of kick it would be so that you can watch the bullet trace and watch impacts on or near target from your scope right after you break the shot. This in conjunction with your FFP scope will make it very easy for you to have hits on follow up shots if you miss your first shot. If you shoot tactical competitions with a spotter or even without you being able to be your own spotter is crutial.

nice setup, mines similar, except im still rocking the adl stock.... actually its not similar at all but i starting the same way with an ADL haha

I would be inclined to +1 roseberry's suggestion. The barrel that comes on that rifle is perfectly good, and good handloads will do a lot more for you then a new barrel.

I'm going to take that advice from Roseberry and yourself. Im looking at a Lee reloading kit. It's only $100! I have quite a bit of fgmm brass too.

Sorry to bump up an old thread but clj94104, what lee kit did you go with?

Im in florida also, although im on the other side of the state in daytona beach as a student at embry riddle.

I have the same gun as you except going a different route on everything! Great rifle though! Love your rifle its turning out great!
