Hunting & Fishing My first Bull Elk

Not a Trophy by most standards but I am proud of him he is my first bull.
Taken at what I estimated to be 500-525 yds with a Rem. 700 .300WSM using a small tree for support.

Thanks guys. He is a 5x5 a little tough to see in the photos but he will make a nice European mount for the wall.

Awesome! I haven't got to hunt elk in about 15 years. I use to live in Montana. My parents still live up there. I'm about burnt out on deer hunting in OK. Nice bull! Miss the hunting camp scene. I would take a calf sucking. You got some good eating and alot of it.

Congratulations! I figure any bull elk taken by fair chase is a fine trophy.

Nice shooting too - 500 yards on game is not exactly close range stuff!

Just remember....The guy thats still walking around the mountain until he see's a trophy won't be at your camp eating Elk Steaks tonight.....Yum !!

Any Elk in my book is a trophy...Great Job.

Kentucky guessage to be exact LOL. I didn't have my rangefinder on me at the time and my scope is a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x42 with a straight duplex. I usually am pretty darn close on my estimation may have been 475 or 550yds. I held just a touch high and I am zeroed for 300yds. I hit him first round in the lower front shoulder. None the less I tagged that bad boy and had fun doing it.

That's pretty good. 300 yards is what I got my hunting rifles zero in at too. Good luck and may you have many happy memorys from your hunting trip.Elk hunting always stirs the blood. Good shooting!
