My Last Surgeon

So I ordered a 591 RH, SA, SFP on the Black Friday sale 2018 and today I got an email that it was ready for pickup.

I went to Strategic Arms Corp to pick it up and it was the most underwhelming experience. The customer service is non existant. They acted like I was out of line asking to inspect the parts before paying.

They were unapologetic about the delay but they did acknowledge it was an unreasonably long wait.

I'm not asking to have my cock stroked but don't act like you are doing me a favor by allowing me to pay you money and drive to your location to pick up the parts.

Surgeon was high on my list of quality for a long time. Now, not so much.

I actually had the chance to do a walk through last summer. Lots of machines but not one was operational.

Today it was a complete ghost town. 2pm on a Thursday and only 5 people in the whole building. No sounds of machines.

That doesn't sound promising at all , what was the quality of your action ? If there running the company on a shoe string then you really can't afford to hold tolerances or quality.

I'm not a machinist so I can't really comment on the level that you are asking. I didn't even break open the package because if there is something wrong when my smith builds on it I don't want to be accused of fiddle fucking with anything.

I think action mfgs may consider single action orders a nuisance. I ordered a Defiance action on 08-21-18. They gave me a ship date of 04-30-19. On 01-31-19 I received an email saying it would be ready to ship in a couple of weeks. On 04-30-19 I sent an email asking for an update on the status of the order. As of today, I haven't gotten a reply.

On 01-31-19 I received an email saying it would be ready to ship in a couple of weeks. On 04-30-19 I sent an email asking for an update on the status of the order. As of today, I haven't gotten a reply.

They were my second choice if the Surgeon fell through but I guess I would be walking into the same situation.

If you paid at the time of pickup I would think the machines would be cranking to get actions out the door.

Pretty sure they make them in batches and distribute to individuals and dealers the same way. Just ordered a TL3 through Bighorn. Pretty standard spec so I'm guessing whenever they do that spec next itll ship(if it's in that batch)

My first Surgeon I ordered and received days later.

The last one I ordered was probably 2017 and it only took like 2 weeks to get it as well. Sucks to hear they might be slipping some.

bighorn was within 2 days on the estimated date with my last action.

The last time I dealt with them they were responsive and easy to deal with. I'm honestly surprised to hear different.

I wonder what happened to their shooting team, they had a TON of great shooters shooting for them just a couple years ago.

Dealing with a local company is nice. I only have three Surgeon actions but it was nice when I could drive to Prague and buy one.

I’ve hear rumors, but chalk it up as just that. I really like the 591 & 1086 actions. Hopefully they don’t let shitty service become the new norm.

Several years ago I ordered a short action with a 308 and 223 bolt face bolts.

After 16-18 months the action and 308 bolt showed up.

I never got the 223 bolt.

Too many good companies with awesome service anymore to deal with bullshit. I’m finding a lot of the older players are resting on their laurels and are getting passed by. Sad in some ways but it shows what a good company can achieve when run correctly
