Just a little show and tell....

DPMS Slick side upper milled by local gunsmith
Tactical Machining lower receiver
Fulton side charging bolt carrier and bolt
Fulton 18.5" 1/10" twist Criterion 308 win
SLR Adjustable gas block
PRI Straight gas tube
Centurion Hand guard
Hyperfire Comp trigger
XLR stock parts

Rough estimate(from memory) on total cost minus XLR stock and tube, scope/mount, suppressor: $1480 not including shipping cost
I did a lot of sales hunting over a pretty long period of time to get the cost down and still get the parts I wanted.

I'll do a range report once I get a hundred or so rounds through it.

Is that a standard height mount for the scope? I just noticed that the upper receiver rail is higher than the handguard rail. Is that how you are able to use the cheekpiece with your AR? I'm assuming the standard charging handle is unusable with that cheekpiece.

Very, VERY NICE, Ian!!! By far one of the nicest home-brews I have witnessed in a while. Your smith did an excellent job milling out the side-CH relief. I've seen some that were allegedly done on proper equipment that looked like a Dremel went rogue and had at the upper receiver!! ;) That one looks smooth as silk and factory OEM clean! Look forward to hearing more on this build once you have a chance to stretch her legs a little.

Does the charge handle conflict with the cheek piece?

Don't want to speak out of turn on Ian's build, but YES...the standard CH will hit the XLR cheekpiece on that particular model stock on any large-frame AR, THUS, THE SIDE CHARGING HANDLE!! ;)

First off, Thanks for all the compliments!

Does the charge handle conflict with the cheek piece?

Yes it does but with the side charging handle it does not matter.

That was one of my peeves with this build.. The upper receiver is high mount and the rail is designed for a low/standard height, but you are right the xlr cheekpiece sits high even in it's lowest position and wouldn't work with a standard height upper receiver. It looks off/odd but it works fine being that I don't plan on using iron sights.

This beast is nice. Shot it at 600 today with Ian...pretty sweet.

Thank you sir. Unfortunately I won't be making 600yd headshots like you with your 6.5 until; 1. I start working up a good handload 2. I become a master wind caller like yourself.

If you master that 308 wind. You'll have it made. Or do like I did and go with 243. 6.5 is hard to beat also. Rifle has a sweet look, lost the cookie cutter with that one.

I actually have 2 243s so i'm covered there. I'm actually selling the one built for 115gr DTACs to pay for my 300 win mag.... I just love 308 because it can really tests your wind call skills once you start to stretch the distance. It's just a great practice cartridge.
