I want you guys to check out my new GAP non typical hunter in .308. It’s nestled in a Manners SL stock w/ ATAX camo dip, Badger M5 DBM triggerguard & Leupold VX-3 4.5-14x50mm Long Range illuminated B&C reticle...

Unfortunately it has been raining in Dallas since last Friday otherwise I would have it broken in and ready to go. I seriously doubt I will have any time this weekend to get it done as I have a full schedule with the fight in town.

It just blows my mind; GA Precision not only sets the industry standards but continues to exceed them, time and time again. In working with George over the last 7 years his, rifles continue to deliver an unmatched level of repeatable & reliable performance that in my opinion other builders can only dream of…

Kudo's on your new rifle. I wish that I could see the photo's, but I can't view them on my work computor. I just recently received my first rifle from GAP and I agree with your assessment, simply the best.

Man, I am not trying to step on anyones toes or "sell" anyone short... But honestly, I have been very hard pressed to find another builder that can produce me something that even begins to compare what George has done done for me.

Below are a few past examples of Georges builds for me that have since moved on...

Grey - .338LM - Nesika M Action
OD Green - .300WSM - Rem 700 action
Desert Camo - .260Rem - Rem 700 action, carbon fiber wrapped ABS barrel

I haven't weighed it becuase I don't have the right rings (badger alloy) on it. Those are just some Warne junk I had laying around. Once I get the correct rings installed I will post a final loaded weight without the bipod...

I would be interested in the Warne rings if you are going to ditch them. Are they 30mm or 1"?

Re: My New GAP Non Typical .308!!!

You have a truly great set-up, I only hope to own my own GAP one day, I recently return from SC. Were a friend of mine let me shoot a GAP Hospitaller in 308, with a March Scope. It really suprised me with how accuate this weapon was. Nothing like shooting beer cans at 400 yds at will. I wish the best of luck with your new weapon system.

Re: My New GAP Non Typical .308!!!

GAP is currently building my F(tr) gun. They have been great to work with, and with some recent suggestion from George himself I'm more excited than ever about my build.

As for your "Non-Typical", why no fluted bolt? I thought that was standard on the Templar guns. Either way, she's a beaut!

Re: My New GAP Non Typical .308!!!

I love that build !! How much weight difference between Manners Superlite stock and there MCT-S I do like the high comb on the SL am wondering if the weight saving is a lot between th two ?

The story surrounding the ATAX camo dip is quite interesting... George was approached by 2 ex-military guys that developed the "ATAX" camo pattern while deployed in Iraq. They took high resolution close up pictures of blown up brick & stone buildings. After zooming and randomizing the pictures to the point of pixilation, the "ATAX" camo pattern was born. Unfortunately the pattern is no longer available; Remington recently bought the pattern and has plans to make it the standard camo on all military issued M24 rifles.

They are 30mm, medium height rings. Although I think they are junk, I do keep them as backup or spares...

This action was built before bolt fluting became a standard practice. I am pretty sure that you can choose whether or not you want the bolt fluted when you place your order.

There is approximately a 10-13oz. weight difference between the two. According to Manners, the MCS-SL weighs between 24-27oz. and the MCS-T weighs between 34-40oz. The weight range reflects different configuration and recoil/butt pad options.

Nice hunting rifle! I'm sure it serves double duty as a great discussion piece for your business meetings as well! ;>

Re: My New GAP Non Typical .308!!!

I have the same rifle except I have the McMillian stock and the Badger bottom metal without the magazine. I wish I had gotten the magazine. Mine is a tack driver. 25 in 5r broughten with a 3-12-56 Zeiss Davari 30mm Scope.

I traveled the same road as you. Once you get a custom rifle by a competent builder, you will mostly look at used 700's and 70's only to get a donor action. Today, I was in pawn shop and was looking the hallowed "back room" where they keep most of their used stuff. I saw an old 700 behind some other rifles and my heart stopped. I thought from the checkering on the stock it was an older rifle- and it was. It had a non-alphabet serial number and was, I believe 6 digits. I would have bought it if it had been a std boltface, but it was a 300WM.

My friend had a GAP .338 Lapua with the older 7000 action. I remember checking out the rifle before he sold it and it made my worked over 700P .300 WM look like a piece of crap! lol
