This is my new 22-6mm Ackley Improved rifle built by Russel Banks at Scout Suppy Company. The fit and finish is awesome. Hats off to Branden for a sweet paint job on the stock. The camo pattern is "Desert Flectarn"

Remmy 700 longaction trued by Russel
Jewel trigger
Bartlein 224 8 twist rem varmint barrel @26
Manners Mcs-T 90% stock. Painted by Branden (Short Bus)

I am currently shooting 80gr JLK's @ 3620fps. Shoots .3-.4 depending on how much coffee I have had to drink.
I haven't had time to take it out past 300. When I get a chance I will update this thread.
Big hat's off to Russel for this build, and putting up with my bullshit!

First pic is a 7mm Mag, 22-6mm AI, and 223 for comparison.

I really like that neck! Always a fan of a long neck cartridge. My buddy came up with his 22-243 with the 80grn berger pushing 3500 rounds and it was a hammer on coyotes, we shot a couple at 200yds and it went in and never came out but the inside was mush. I'll say it worked pretty darn well. I sure had new found respect for the heavy 22cal's. The bad thing is his barrel went pretty quick.

Why doesn't anyone seem to shoot the 550bc 90grainers?
I was really wanting to use those, but Brian Litz pretty much talked me out of them. He said at those high speeds they were very unpredictable. I shoot them in my 6.5 twist 223 and they are awesome.

I kind of want to build a 22-250 or maybe an Ackley with a gain twist barrel specifically for the 90's. I think 3100 should be obtainable.

I've read to keep them around 3100, I just keep reading threads about custom built 223's, 223 AI's, 22-250's etc and people always shoot the 75/80 A max.

Guess I've been hoping to find someone(s) shooting the 90's, small recoil, big ballistics.
