Hi all ballistics lovers. I've been to the sight many times and I finally registered. Getting to the point. When I was 7 my uncle bought me my first rifle, a mossberg and son model 144 in .22 lr. The weirdest thing is the serial number which is 123...? Next is the cheek piece which looks like something off of those old Winchester 700 from the Vietnam era, and the bolt is a T bolt. I've had this rifle all my life and been through a lot with it. While I was researching after market parts to soup it up I realized that no other 144 looks at all like mine, my rifle is fully loaded. Anyone able to help me figure out where or when it's from. That serial number is haunting, my local range master says he's never seen a number that low.

Welcome aboard.

Sounds like you have a nice rifle, it was made in 1949.

I also have a 144 with a T bolt handle. Is yours grooved to mount a scope? Mine is not grooved.

I have never seen a 144 that didn't shoot really well.

Yea I have a scope on mine I absolutely love it. I'm just amazed about how original it looks. I've never had a rifle shoot so true. Thanks for the info man now I know how old she is.
