Re: My rifle

Rifle was made in 1988 in 20 units for the shooting team of USSR for Olimpic games to shoot 300 meters.
Model name: MC 116-1
No more information, also plant who make this rifle do not answer to me.
Only think that I want is to replace the barrel for new one.

Re: My rifle

Nice looking rifle. Hopefully someone will be able to help the OP.

To the OP a complete set of specs would help us help you. Things like is the rifle bedded, what optic you are using, etc would be helpful.

Re: My rifle

Millett LRS-1 6-25x56...

Millett LRS-1 6-25x56...
On a measurement of 1-10, Millet is a 7-8. What other manufacturers can you find? Leupold would be nice. Can you find Polish optics like Swarovski or the Czech Meopta Artemis? Long distances only really requires 10 power magnification. Even a non-adjustable 10X power would be better. Just a simple 10 power. Spend your money on glass quality, quality internals, not adjustable magnification.

Re: My rifle

Is it better to get scope with fixed magnification? Interesting...
I will add more pictures after few hours. I hope that I can do it in this post. Is it possible to insert image from my computer not using URL in this topic?

Re: My rifle

Gunto, perhaps you should see if you can track down the PKS-07U. There you will see that the power for your rifle was only 7x. The fielded adjustable was the 1P69 3-10x42. Again, my friend, top power is 10x.

I would say fixed is not "better", but if you are on a budget and want to spend your money on the best possible scope, sometimes it is best to get a fixed scope of a higher quality than an adjustable power that costs the same. In my opinion, the quality, repeatability and accuracy of the turrets is more important than adjustable power. Glass quality can be more important than adjustable power. Accuracy of the reticle is more important. If you can afford more, only then do you want to buy adjustable power.

In this section, all photos have to be added by editing your very first post at the top. Return there, choose "edit" and "add" photos that you upload like the photo of your rifle. If you want to include additional photos below you can only "link" to other web photo providers. That only is the case in the photo section...here.

Here is an example for you. This is a picture of my daughter, she shoots a good deal and with a Millett LRS-1 6-25x56. She likes it and life is good. If I post the pic in this section, this is all you get. Normally that would post the pic but NOT in this section

One does not use the

By the way, are you aware that your rifle could be delivered with a silencer that was made expressly for subsonic cartridges? Cut the length enormously. Welcome to the Hide.

praksi, nav naudas vienads precizitati. pat akmens javadas, lai ta merka.

Es baidos, man ir bail prom visiem citiem.

Re: My rifle

Yes - at the moment my budget is not very big! I am ready to spend ~ $400. Any Idea for that money?
Where did you found information about silencer? I have made the muzzle brake by my self, because it is impossible to buy it in Latvia. Have you any drawings?
Where did you found these pictures?
And yes - I am happy to heard that your daughter is shooting. It is hard to find girls which loves this game. What is the range, which she is shooting?
Thanks
P.S. I am looking for scopes, that you show in Russian sites. I know also Russian.
About my education:
1. I have finished Marine College in 2006;
2. In 2011 I get degree of bachelor in engineering economics...

Re: My rifle

Others should help with a $400 scope. Folks? Gunto, perhaps the best idea is for you to post a new thread in the Optics section and ask that question. You must tell them what brand names you have in Latvia.

Go here:

http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=19&page=1

You created a flash hider, not a muzzle brake. Not enough gas is forced rearward on your current design. Ask that question in the Gunsmithing section.

Go here:

http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=17&page=1

Start here: Top is in Vietnamese, but go down until you see Russian.

Re: My rifle

RollingThunder51 thanks!
I have done more pictures. I will add them in few minutes.
There it will be possible to see 3 bolts that is regulating strength and more things to push the button.

Re: My rifle

Paskaties bildes Es jus esmu sutijis. Jums ir atrast jaunu teleskopu, ka ari. Aizmirstiet par mainu sautene purnu bremzi. Darbs optika tikai. Iet leni, nepieciesams laiks, lai atrastu pareizo dalas, neteretu naudu.

These pictures tell us quite allot.

I would say the telescope and the mounting plate have little value. You have to remove them both and set them aside. Shoot the rifle with iron sites first. See if the rifle's barrel is even worth spending money at all.

Your rifle is rare. But you can still find parts. You have to start with the mounting plate. You need a much stronger mounting plate. It would be much longer and attach to the rifle receiver more accurately. Proper bolts as well. Look at the pictures I sent you. You have to find a new telescope, as well. Forget about changing the rifle muzzle brake. Optics work only. Go slowly, find the right parts, do not waste money.

Re: My rifle

Thanks for advice!
I have no iron sights. Rifle is like in picture.
I though that the barrel have been changed or made shorter. The weight of rifle with this scope is only 4,1kg, but in data available it is shown ~6,5kg without scope and ammunition.
How to test is my barrel good enough? I was shooting 100meters and it goes good. Maybe should try 300 meters?
Your thoughts please!

Re: My rifle

Thanks guys.
Tomorrow I will try to make some target pictures, but still not started reloading.
If some of you got needless reloading press and you are ready to ship it to Latvia, let me know.

Re: My rifle

Thanks! In the first target you can see, there are six rounds done using bench. All other shoots done using moving target in distance 100 meters.
Yes, the hide is great place!
