My second AR is just about complete: I wanted a high powered precision rifle (high powered compared to my .22). My eventual goal is to have a 3 precision rifles. One in .22, one medium caliber, and on high powered rifle. Since I already own a .22 bolt action, and my .308, or similar rifle I get next will be bolt action, I though it made sense to get a semi auto rifle. I really did a lot of debating between an AR or Rem. 700, and at a few points I was questioning my choice, but it the end, I think I made the right choice.
Here is how the gun looks now:
Specs on rifle:
Spikes Lower, upper, and LPK
TRX Extreeme free float handguard
Bravo company 20" Barrel
Thread protector for barrel
ADM 30mm Quick Release Scope mount
Vortex Viper 6.5x20x44 scope
My goal for the rifle was to make it somewhat light, without sacrificing what I wanted. So I went with a light free float handguard, but still went with the Magpul PRS, because it looked nice, and should help with the balance. I don't think I'll be humping this gun around too much, so I'm not worried about weight. My somewhat unreliable bathroom scale says 10.2 pounds with magazine, no ammo.
I also plan on getting a 2 stage trigger for it, but I wanted to put a few hundred rounds down range first, and do more research.
A Harris Bipod and adaptor should be arriving this week. I hope to take it shooting next week.
Since this is my second AR, here is a picture of the first.
Any questions, comments suggestions?
