Hey all. I'm traveling to Myrtle Beach soon for a few days and am curious if there are any gun or shooting related attractions in the area? Or other things that aren't gun or shooting related that are must see? Thanks!

Almost forgot…if you like Louisiana style food, there is a Walkons in the Surfside area about 10 minutes from PSA. We ate there for the first time during our last visit. Can’t wait to go back.
Not a must see but there is GREAT seafood at a number of restaurants in Merrill’s Inlet just a bit south.
I’ve never shot there but the biggest concentration of golf courses I’ve ever seen outside of Hilton Head. If you happen to play the night golf is interesting.
I’ll second that. There are some nice Par 3 courses around there that are fun and you can play day or night.
Unfortunately, none of us are into golf. I've always heard Myrtle Beach area had some great golf courses. If I'd be out on the golf course, I'd always be thinking in terms of how many mils to the next hole? And what's my wind hold? lol
Brookgreen Gardens. I wasn't excited about going but it turned out to be a highlight of the last trip. 10000 acre former cotton plantation full of statues, gardens, fountains and trees. Amazing.
Huntington Beach state park is across the street and was part of the same plantation. Nice, short, trails. Myrtle Beach state park is OK, but way smaller.
I like the Hook and Barrel and Aspen Grille for chow.
The PSA store prices are higher than online. No ranges I've seen. Not a lot of gun stores.
North Myrtle and Barefoot landing area is nice. There is a Bass Pro there. The South end, Murrells Inlet is high class. In the middle, 1st ST is the hood.

I remember visiting the gardens when I was a kid. At the time they had a decent zoo with a number of pretty large gators. Last time I was there, I think they had a few in a small pool.

Well, there is no need to plan or go out of your way for "shooting related attractions." They will come to see you. The local night life have a specialty in house calls. The only planning involved is plan to be inside by dark.

I always wanted to go there for some reason. I guess I thought I would be the San Diego of the east coast. If you have the same ideas I’ll tell you right now it’s the 29 Palms/yucca of the east coast.

The boardwalk was fantastic 20 or so years ago, it is a shithole now. For that matter, Myrtle Beach proper is a shithole. We almost always stay in North Myrtle, less people, same beaches. If we want something that’s at Myrtle, we make a trip and head back to N, Myrtle.
I couldn't cite statistics but it's a regular stream of news stories.
I came to SC because my wife at that time couldn't deal with New Hampshire winters and I had family here. We ended up in the upstate (northwest corner) and the summers get decidedly more tolerable when you've got some elevation. That pretty much narrows it down to the northern halves of Oconee, Pickens and Greenville counties. Rural life suits me fine in that I don't want to be in any city.
I was astounded when I first got down here that the homicide rate per capita was over seven times higher than New Hampshire, which probably puts it average or slightly above average for the US. As is the norm, the crime rates are very different between urban and rural areas.
I don't know where you're from or where you are now but it is nice down here in spots.
If you want peace and quiet, stay a little more north in NC, somewhere like Ocean Isle Beach. Very friendly for families. Has all the restaurants that you will like in the area, but not chain restaurants. There is not a ton of tourist type stuff to do, but if you want to relax, it’s the place to go. We will never go to Myrtle again. Want a nice house for a larger family retreat? Check out “Cherry Bomb” on OIB, 177 East 1st St. 5 BR, 4 bath, I think you will like it. And no, that is not click bait to a blue waffles page, lol. I personally know the owner. This house will be clean, and I promise you will enjoy the stay. Pool for the kids, elevator for the seniors, and a short walk to beach access. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it.
Should have seen the boardwalk in the 70s.
We stay south of the old air base now. Brother has a beach house there. It is “different” than “in town.” Sloppy Joes, Mammy’s Kitchen, Electric Circus, Spanish Galleon, pretty much all the places I remember are either gone or sierra hotels now’s.

Captain George’s is a fantastic sea food restaurant- seriously.
The aquarium is first rate and the Ripleys believe it or not museum is worth the price of admission.
And Peaches is one of the oldest continuously run diners in the US - great fries and corn dogs - like seriously a corn dog worth remembering
