I was just issued one of these packs on the nice frpackaging with the hitchhiker bag. Have any of you used the rats pack for anything besides medical purposes. I am just curious how you set it up for the range or even for hiking. I want to send the pack back to mystery ranch for a different one but it is against the rules I guess. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Mystery ranch rats pack

I can see that....The Nice frame is pretty bulky though. I am trying to figure out how i can fit it in an overhead compartment with a tent and sleeping bag. The waist straps just wont lay flat. If i had to check it i am afraid it would get caught on something. The hitchhiker is a pretty cool bag though i like how easily it attaches over the top of the rats pack. Then easily comes off and can be used as a day pack. I am going to order a tri zip overload in the next few months. Hopefully that will work a little better for camping. I have an eberlestock phantom, black hawk 3 day and a couple London bridge assault packs. This mystery ranch is way nicer than the other ones i have. I am excited about the TRI ZIP.

by the way....sorry if i put this in the wrong topic. I am still trying to find my way around here.

Re: Mystery ranch rats pack

I took apart the nice frame and had no idea that you could take the shoulder straps out of it and attach them to the pack without the frame. It kinda sucks though that i cant attach the hitchhiker though. ill figure out something to make it happen. Maybe have a seamstress attach some buckles.

Re: Mystery ranch rats pack

Good Idea. I was actually thinking about that last night. I was going to use a cheap duffle bag or something similar. This would be even smaller though. Thanks for the idea
