When I was about 10 or 11 years old I got to meet both mom and daughter. I was even able to get on their tour bus and hang out with both of them.
To bad her one daughter is 2 rounds short of a full mag.
Well, considering that it can be treated and cured.....???
We saw them in 1987 and they put on a great show. I am hating it that so many talented musicians are in their golden years and passing.

So, Ashley (by assumption of her other politics) is likely super anti-2A; now how is she going to use this to add fuel to the Anti-2A fire? Like this must have been a big house to have gone to door and let friend in, not heard gunshot, then rushed up. Perhaps her mother was asking her to stay at that instant? It's still sad, don't get me wrong, and I'm shocked she used a firearm; but the gun didn't kill her. If Ashely wants to be sincere her focus will be ENTIRELY on mental well-being, and not on guns.
My question is why does a person with known mental issues with severe depression have access to a gun. Yes I know they would just find another way but lets don't make it easy for them.
Come on now, when you are being treated by a doctor and have written a book about it, it's no longer just a bad day once in a while. I'm not suggesting government control here, this is something that could have been handled by the people around her that know what she is going through not the public. A gun safe that she didn't have access to would have been a good idea.

lets say you prevented Naomi from buying a gun here in the USA. Ok. She does a concert or just vacations in South America and brings a pistol back with her from Brazil on the private jet. or she pays one of 50 people willing to buy her a throwdown gun from some ne'er-do-well thats been stolen 4 times and does it that way.

the shocking part is that she used a gun. women typically dont. and when they do they shoot themselves in the chest. im surprised she didnt do it with some painless high power drugs. maybe she wanted to REALLY make sure.
Somethings not right about the latest news on how she committed suicide. She had a LONG history of mental illness. She was known to be suicidal. Now someone explain how she had access to a firearm AND to be alone with the firearm?

Good points, I'm making the assumption that this was a "known" firearm but to your point it may not have been. She may have been prepping for this for a while. I too was surprised it wasn't drugs.
Often suicide is triggered by a joyous occasion (like winning a huge award). Since the person is depressed they know it will bring them no joy, and no solace from the darkness.

She'd be fighting depression for a long, long time. Debilitating obviously. It does make one wonder why her family didn't take the gun away (if they knew she had it); but any gun control law to save somebody bent on harming themselves is not going to stop suicide. Period!!! If not a gun, then pills, slit wrists, etc.

Does each person not have the Constitutional right, and God given right, to walk out of one's own life through the exit when and how they themselves have chosen, and chosen on their own good volition? We are not talking about a 16 year old kid here, but someone who arguably had a full life, and whose problems may well have become too heay to carry on with or possibly endure; but only she would know whether that was the situation or not at the end. Suicide is a selfish act, often devistating to their family, but I would prose that, if you don't already know that there are things in life far worse than dying, you haven't lived very long. Life is not easy for a lot of people and I'm not one to sit in judgment. God bless her and I hope she is free now in a better place. IMHO.

Luckily only one of them used a firearm.

But because he used a shotgun, aimed at his mid-section, and suffered an agonizing death as a result.
These were all situations where they had battled with their demons for years and years - with lots and lots of help from everyone around them. Rehabs, counseling, hospitals, treatment centers, lots of late night visits, and hundreds of hours on the phone, and spending time with them so they wouldn't be alone - regardless of how much extra strain it puts on the "helper's" life. Everyone involved tried their best, but also had their own lives to live and their own families to take care of. Other people simply cannot babysit suicidal people for 24/7 regardless of intentions. You can do your best to help them, but in the end - it's up to them whether they are willing to continue suffering whatever is torturing them.

I have some very strong opinions on this subject, particularly after watching my father go through his last week on this world.
Those trying to use this as an excuse to go on about how she shouldn't have had a gun are simply doing the talking points from the ones that hate that serfs have weapons to protect their freedom.
Better how she did it than having her daughter find her hanging from the closet door, a bit too soon and doing the whole days / weeks of them in a coma and life support before finally dying.

It is real common for people never having seen "real" depression to ask questions like this. It is also real easy to slide past this with few people.
The answer is simple. Very very simple:
Ban Mental Illness

That's so 2018 around these parts. The first Red Flag enforcement ended in the guy being shot and killed by 2 cops. About a year later another guy was shot and killed by cops. I don't know how many more enforcements were conducted by the police but they weren't worthy of any news reporting.
Ok, restrict access to guns. Don't forget rope, water, electricity, cars, food, medications, knives, rocks, gravity, cops.

If it so well know about her battles with depression, how come the people who loved her allowed her to spiral into a state of depression so low she finally offed herself? 2nd degree manslaughter enough? I mean they allowed her unfettered access to an evil gun that whispered into her ear "We've got Pizza in hell!"

At the doctor's office, when you answer 'Yes' on the paperwork to the last question "Do you feel depressed?" and then say Yes when asked by the nurse "Do you own any guns?"

You can't save the world but I wouldn't feel too proud of myself if I had provided the gun, rope, medications, knife, etc. that ended their life. Simple safety precautions should be observed when you have someone with known issues. Now that isn't to say they didn't do these things or try to help as much as physically and mentally possible, because they may well have done just that. Might be time for you to get real cause this kind of shit gets real really quick, just ask the Judd's how quick.

So let's blame the people who live with depressed people when they kill themselves. Jesus. We shoulda stopped them/intervened, prevented them/hid all the guns/hid all the pills/ Blah, fucking blah. Her issues were serious enough that she wrote a book about it, probably as therapy (??). A very sad final outcome for sure.
I think she's on a lot of anti-depressant drugs or prednisone. She's got puffy face and such - just like a lot of those drugs due to you. If you want to "prevent" suicide by limiting access to things people can use to kill themselves with you bascially have to lock them in a jail cell, tie them down and sedate them. Let's take food.
