Remington Arms Co, America's oldest gun maker, is preparing to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection that could come as early as Sunday night and is in advanced talks for a sale to the Navajo Nation, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Had to work w/ NN on a pipeline project w/ segments near Farmington and Gallup, NM in '07-08. Looked forward to it initially but what a PITA trying to get a decision out of them. And when you did, you'd better wait because by the next day they were likely to change their minds.

On a different note, we all had to go through Cultural Sensitivity Training put on by NN. Expected the worst given a couple hundred pipeliners that didn't want to be there but the old Navajo professor that did most of the presentation, although long-winded, was pretty cool and basically just told stories. The one take-away I still remember was if any fella should happen to sleep w/ a Navajo maiden, they were considered to be married to her!

Unrelated, but also remember first time to Gallup area and, despite trips to other parts of the West, thinking that's what I thought the West looked like. Of course I later learned that a lot of old western movies/shows/etc that formed my perception of the West were filmed in the Gallup area.

I don't have any first hand knowledge of any Indians except for a group of Creek Indians which have a reservation about an hour north of me. Everyone I have seen or talked to are all about wellfare and free shit. Absolutely no different than any other libitard. Even some of the people around here than are only 10 percent Creek and have proved it some way get a check in the mail every month for just being a descendant. They evidently have some good backing or are good business because they have built a huge casino, a 15 story hotel, and bought the local race track and dumped millions into it.

At least have to say this about the Poarch Creek Indians in Atmore/Wetumpka/elsewhere?, Alabama - they stepped up and paid for all 23 funerals from the 2019 Lee/Macon Co tornado(es). I lived and worked on the Navajo Rez for ten years. They are very pro-gun and pro-veteran (still practicing the Gord dance which is male-only warriors). Growing up, the kids get free food and clothes thru the school system (Federal dollars pore in). When they turn 18, they get an acre of land and welfare for life. Apparently, they have more money poring in than they spend on their own, allowing them to reinvest. They did approve and build a casino about 13-14 years ago. Lots of coal mining also. But the State is forcing the shutdown of the coal generating plants. So, this money-making operation will soon close and our electricity rates will skyrocket.

I am usually a one-issue voter: the 2nd Amendment. The Natives are generally a one-issue voter: free stuff; and that would be why Democrats rule over New Mexico. The majority (about 60%) of NMs live on the Government tit.

I wish them the best whether thy make plant holders or firearms could have been worse . what if the start making good quality american arms at a somehow cheaper price hand carved wood stocks or there own metal chassis and all you had to do was switch the barrel and bolt and mag around to fire different rounds ? if they do end up buying it at least its not another Chinese owned ex American company yet. my hope is they will use one of the nations largest ammo plants to remake the brand into something like prime ammo a high quality ammo and make an over abundance of that high quality ammo at a cheaper than market price then defiantly have the tools they have the technology they could build it stronger faster and better than it was before .

In terms of Remington I hope someone can come in and pull them out of their funk. The big gun mfgs are kind of mis-shapen blobs in their own right though and are getting eaten alive by smaller, more nimble players.
