Highly tacticool. The article's a flippin joke. I wonder what royalty those companies have to pay to the writer. They're going to get a jillion orders from chair warmers.

Re: Navy Seal Gear Wish List

that is fucking stupid and artyrx shell layers are good, we got their combat pants and top and i was NOT impressed at all.

Re: Navy Seal Gear Wish List

I wonder what navy seals were actually questioned? It seems more like a commercial than anything. Does the LaRue that was have select fire? I don't think so. I'm sure a $350 dollar knife is on all the SEAL's xmas list. IMO, this "article" is written for the wanna be's. I'm no operator and I don't pretend to no what they want or need, but it seems convenient that they need a $3000 rifle.

Weren't they calling the LaRue a "sniper" rifle on Top Shot. I guess any rifle is a sniper rifle, as long as a sniper is pulling the trigger. If a sniper isn't shooting it, the rifle is just that... a rifle. I have to admit, the show is very entertaining to me.

Re: Navy Seal Gear Wish List

While you are all taking the mickey, I realise that centimeters may not be common in America, but they are, here in the UK - 154cm knife, that's about four feet long, more like a sword!

Better than the $8,000 rifles that they've been using.

Re: Navy Seal Gear Wish List

I’ve got an OBR and am very happy with it – so that is the disclosure.

As for the article, it is so bad that it is indeed a joke; there is no way around it. The really funny thing is companies like LMT/GAP/POF would probably give at least a little finger to get the advertising, good or bad as it does generate sales – it’s tough out there.

On that topic, it’s hard not to envy LaRue for the shear amount of high profile positive publicity they seem to get. You can say it’s luck or you can accuse them of buying it or whatever, but the fact is they are a small company compared to the likes of LMT but it all seems to go LaRue’s way. Good examples are the current article, the “Top Shot”, the fact that they were used by 3 out of the 4 four winning rifles in the 2010 International Sniper and USASOC Competition… Seems like they show up everywhere you look. So LaRue is either the luckiest company or they just have their shit together? Just calling it as I see it....

I've heard stories of Larue having reps out giving free shit all the time to NCOs etc out there to influence their sales. Now granted I don't even remember anymore where I heard it, but that is a common practice for other industries.

LMLAAO (Laughing My Louisiana Ass Off)

They do make a good product, but they seem to have the "Killroy" luck, appearing everywhere...Would I give up my LMT MWS for a LT OBR, no way, no way...

I am sure the OBR is well made, but the hype has not hurt sales...

May or may not be true, but in the end, the people in the competition is not going to use it if it is not competitive, and they are not going to win if it is a POS. Winning takes combination of a great shooter, rifle, and ammo, no way around that.

Re: Navy Seal Gear Wish List

Typical "lite" article from the underinformed to the mis-informed. It's Fox's stab at the (also pathetic) Mens Health gear guide.

That's not to say that any of the products themselves are bad, just the article. I would have rather seen an in depth article about one product, written so that people who have never been in the field can understand and appreciate it.

Well if I had my wish list all I'd want is a CZ7 and I'd call it a day.

The guy can be a prick if he wants, he's still making top rate stuff. I don't think his sales have suffered any either, not with a 12 week back order.

Re: Navy Seal Gear Wish List

Oh ok, wasnt aware of any problems between LL and Mark Larue. If someone has the inside story please PM, Im curious.

Ive ordered from Larue a few times, and every single time Ive ordered from them, they have hooked me up with amazing prices. I called right before I deployed this last time around and I had a few questions. I spoke at length for about an hour with a former Special Forces vet with 5 combat deployments, who basically walked me through the pros/cons of my purchase, and other options that would better suit my needs.

I cant speak of how Larue treats civilians, but they absolutely take care of the military buyers.

The OBR is pretty awesome. I honestly wish I had the opportunity to carry one on deployment. Everything that Ive handled from Larue has definitely been quality shit that I would take into combat without hesitation.

Re: Navy Seal Gear Wish List

As a defense industry guy I'm throwing the Bullshit flag...They can't (and more likely don't) give anything over $25 value to active duty(including meals). The NCO would have disclose this as a gratuity and decline it...totally illegal. Also, I don't see to many NCOs in the acquisition approval process. They may contribute to requirements development/submission, but the big $$ are way up the food chain for approval/award. Just sayin...

+1 There aren't too many NCOs in the procurement and contracting part of the DOD. And the ones that are, aren't making any decisions or signing the contracts.

Re: Navy Seal Gear Wish List

Do a quick search of Poison123 and you'll see he seems he may have a little problem with letting simple shit go..... :)

I've only ordered a few mounts from Larue, only one of which I still own, but have no problems with. You see someone bust his ass to be successful and everyone has their hand out. Good for ML.

Re: Navy Seal Gear Wish List

Sure I'm very up front, I think Mark Larue is a cock sucker. Does his company make bad gear, nope. But is it the absolute best not a f'ing chance, unless your a Pack Larue member.

But believe what you want, I'm done with this thread.

Keep it simple, keep it clean, and the lighter the better.

You have to remember that 90% of journalism is driven by marketing in one form or another, and in the U.S. we are major consumers of those marketing tactics. If a journalist says that they "LOVE" a product ...... it's usually because they got something for FREE!
