The US Navy today made public their catch and release program they began in 2003. They announced the release of a senior Al-Qaeda terrorist after questioning him for 27 days while being held prisoner onboard the US Aircraft Carrier Enterprise (CVN-65) in the Indian Ocean.

As a humanitarian gesture (in light of his prolonged incarceration) the terrorist was given $50 US, and a 1962 Ford Fairlane automobile.

The photo below show the terrorist on his way home just after being released by the Navy.

Assuming that's real, I'm surprised it was approved. I would have thought the bean counters would have nixed it for potential collision damage.

I hope that the picture is recycled with new themes/captions for our fun and amusement many, many more times in the future.

The Captain who allowed that launch, or the lower-level officer who did it "within" his authority, deserves decades of praise for understanding crew morale so well.

Let's hope the current leadership is so wise!
