My oldest daughter just move to Raleigh, and i am planning to pay her a visit. Looking to get some hunting in at the same time, if I can get one doe in the freezer it will be worth it. Looking at the NCWildlife site, the out of state fees are pretty decent for a 6 day pass. Thing is I know nothing about the areas. I am not looking for a "honeyhole" but just an area that has state land or BLM that i can at least give a decent effort. I am looking at the East region, but if there are any others that would be best just let me know. PM is fine as well .

Thanks

Deer are like rats out here. I see at least a half dozen every night in the fields near my house. It won't be hard to find yourself one worth the time and you can be picky because there are plenty.

Check out Butner game lands. It's about 15 minutes north of Durham off Hwy. 85, I believe exit 92. It's the land surrounding the National guard training grounds. Used to be the state hot spot. Now almost anywhere you can find deer.
