New 6.5 upper. Any idea on where these gouges come from. Was thinking feed ramp, but didn’t see any burrs or sharp edges. The are on every casing that was shot.

Sharp points on the inside of the barrel extension lugs during extraction. Pull the bolt back enough to see the gap in the barrel extension lugs that lines up with the extractor (~3:00 position). You can dress up those points on both sides of the gap.

That makes sense, should have thought of that first. Feel like a dummy. I’ll feel them out and run my bore scope down and look at the barrel side of the lugs. Any recommendations on the best way to dress them up. Thanks.

I use 320 wet/dry sandpaper around 6"-8" long and 3"-4" wide. Roll it up like a straw and flatten it out. The 6"-8" length gives you enough to grip in the palm of your hand while dragging the sandpaper backwards between your forefinger and the points.
