I don't want a safe, because I live in a 3rd floor walkup and I know I'll be moving in a year. That said, are there any armory style gun racks on the market? I need to store 4 weapons (couple of ARs, a bolt gun, shotgun). Something that I can put a padlock or a cable lock on for security.

I have limited interest in open gun racks. What can be seen and touched can be messed with.

The Wal-Mart gun cabinet approach is what I prefer. I don't want a safe, but would if I was interested in fire protection. But if I wanted fire protection in my own home, I'd take a small room or large closet, line it with 3-4 layers of drywall, and keep the steel gun cabinet(s?) in there. I think it's more practical to build a new one if I move than to try and manhandle a safe to a new location.

The $350 safe that Lowes sells is, for the money, not bad. Throw it on a dolly and you can get it up your 3rd floor by yourself.

The ONLY gun rack I have is one from Plastix Plus that my AR mounts on in my closet when I am at home. When I leave the gun either comes with me or into the real safe. They make a 4 rack too. Has a small pouch that a magazine fits in.
