Need a new rain jacket...

Florida rain?

Alaska/Washington rain?

Arizona/So Cal rain?

Are you wearing it for protection into a store, fishing, or hunting?

Cold weather?
Hot weather?

I know it sounds like I'm picking nits, but more info will help get you what you need.

I've got Cabela's basic Goretex guide gear for fishing and cool florida weather.
It's packable and light weight.
My buddy uses some heavy duty shit from BPS but it's awful in warm weather.
For hunting, I've got some old Browning Gore Tex, but I don't really hunt in the rain. Winter is the dry season here in Florida.

That probably didn't answer a damn thing for you... ?

Love my arcteryx bought back in 2000 or so but they were made in Canada than and the $350 or so spent seemed worth it.

Last year bought an ECWS new surplus jacket from @LAR Dragoon and it will do everything the arctyrex does at <1/3 the price and allows me velcro to put an American flag on.

I bought woodland but believe he has desert and some newer multi cam ones if camo appeals to you.

Agreed with mike above. If you just want something light and cheap that will double as a windbreaker, Columbia makes a 20 dollars packable rain jacket I keep in my back pack for oh-shit's.

ECWS for the heavy rain and durability. Columbia, Mtn Hardware lightweight shell for everything else.
If you want to spend more $$ then seek out an ArcTeryx LEAF or consumer grade shell (Backcountry Gear.com) or Kuiu and Beyond if you're a skinny MFer..
PIT ZIPS ARE CRITICAL- particularly in warmer climates (over 50 DegF)

Alaska/Washington rain? Thanks for the response. Sorry I left out some details. Worked like 37 hours in the last two days and haven’t slept in 3 so I’m a wee bit tired.

Arizona/So Cal rain? Nationwide

Are you wearing it for protection into a store, fishing, or hunting? Mostly just out and about but could be used for hiking/fishing

Mostly warm weather but maybe down into the 30’s at some point. Layering is good.

Lightweight is always good.

My Outdoor Research Foray is my go to rain jacket. It’s uses 2.5 layer Goretex, is light enough to throw in a pack or bag just in case, has the best pit zips of any jacket I’ve ever owned (clutch in warmer climates), and is tough enough for light duty as a hard shell.

I wear an Arteryx for casual wear and its awesome, its lightweight and great int eh rain. If i was hunting or shooting, then I wear Kuiu Yukon rainwear, its a little more heavy duty yet stretchy and breathable. I am a serious tournament fisherman and its cabelas guidewear all the way for that.

It has to be north of $500 to work. ;)

I have Frogg Togg UL picked up at SW for $10, for average wear it works just fine.

I rarely wear pure rain proof, I prefer soft shell that works for me 90% of my time in Alaska, for the 10% it doesn't, I throw on my Frogg Togg.
