Need a spotting scope

I’m in the same budget range and have been eyeballing the Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85. I’ve heard good things about the Leupold Kenai as well but don’t have 1st hand experience with it. I have a Leupold Gold Ring15-30x50 Compact now but it’s a PITA with the small objective lens.

Thanks for the reply Skookum, I just picked one up for $30 that looks decent in the pictures but you never know what it will look like till you get it in your hands. Good thing is Fleabay guarantees the purchase some what which is better then nothing.

Which one did you get?

It is a black Space Master II but not rubberized armor coated 12-36X50. pictures looked very good with little wear in a hard case. I offered $30 and they took it so I'll have to wait and see when it arrives next week. If it's not what was represented I can always dispute the sale or stop payment on my credit card.
I was just looking for a cheap range spotter for use while testing loads and didn't need anything special.

Does it have the focus on the lower right when looking through the scope, or a lever type adjustment on top? If it is on top, I've never owned one of those. I would be interested in your review of it.

I got a used swaro STS 20-60x65. It’s absolutely Incredible. The amount of detail you can see spotting with it is insane. You can find them around 1500-1700 used if you look hard enough. I can’t believe someone hasn’t suggested this in your 1-2k price range. Swaro glass is nearly impossible to beat. Maybe impossible.

Well I got the scope today and it isn't what was represented. It turns out to be a sportsview BF1236 . I guess I should have looked closer at the pictures or asked questions before making an offer.

After weighing all of my options I am seriously considering waiting and buying a used Swaro.

Sorry to hear that man, that kind of stuff has happened to me before. It really sucks.

Yeah but for it being a Sportview the thing is clear enough to do what I want and may send it to Bushnell for a cleaning looks like some grease or something on the inside of the front lens . They might just put a new lens in it with all the new coatings . The dang thing is spotless on the outside and not a mark on it, only wish I had the factory paper work for it.
And it was made in Taiwan.

Look at the Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 . I have the older model, but haven't seen a optical difference with new model that my friend bought. I price watched on Dvor.com. It looks like the newer model is on sale right now. Then I had "dvor bucks" to spend on other things. I bought the camera adapter and some nice electronic hearing with that. I think my credit was $350 and the scope was around $1200 on sale.

The optics are good... maybe not quite as bright as a $2700 Kowa, but good enough to use out to mile.
