I think the more I read, the more confused I get about night vision equipment - maybe I just need to talk to Vic, but here goes.

I would like to get a night vision set-up for hunting coyotes and occasionally other area predators. I'm not sure that that I want a dedicated set-up for nighttime use only. So what would be my best options. Probably use both my .204, but also a Noveske 300 blackout. I do have an opportunity to buy a 4x Raptor at a very reasonable price, but that almost demands a dedicated rifle and I doubt that I would use it enough to warrant the cost - probably just answered that question already.

I do want day and night capacity without a lot of equipment switching. Any suggestions? Budget up to 6-7K

Re: Need advice

Some mannner of a clip on is what will work for you in this situation and at the moment Clip ons are the only thing that can handle larger recoiling weapons.

What is your day optic your currently using?

I am working on a review of the new Leupold Mark 6 combined with the PVS 24 and this set up is producing some amazing results!

Hit me up and we can talk More.

Re: Need advice

I wouldn't rule out the Night Optics D930. This is a more affordable route and I have been extremely happy with mine thus far. I use mine on a 260Rem, in front of a S&B 3-20. The image quality in Gen 3 is more than adequate for any hunting situation .

I had a D740 previously, which is essentially the Raptor 4x and it was great, but I like you didn't have nor did I want a complete dedicated night rig, so I chose the D930. I like leaving my day optic in place and simply adding the night optic when needed. The D930 is fairly compact, so it's not an inconvenience to carry in a pack and slip on and off.
