I own a HTR chambered in 300WM. I bought it back in 2005 when I finished working in Afghanistan. I have been very pleased with it. The accuracy has been better than promised. I have had no problems with it what so ever, thus far. I am a firm believer in not fixing what isn't broken. How does your rifle shoot? You seem to be basing a lot of your modifications on what you have heard rather than your own experiences. I would fix what bothers you, instead of someone else. You really haven't stated what you plan to do with your rifle so its hard to suggest any performance based modifications.

Some people complain they rattle when they are empty. Why they are sneaking around with an empty magazine in the rifle is beyond me. I have not had any issues with the magazine system on my rifle or any problem with the three magazines I have for it. I think one of the biggest complaints is the cost of the magazine. HS Precision magazines are proprietary, Badgers are not. I like the HS Magazine system. It has been very reliable for me. If you are really wanting to change. HS is coming out with an improved system next year. It will still be a drop in system, but will have a second anchor point at the front of the magazine. This was to make it more secure and reduce the rattle when empty. As I have mention, I havent' had any of those issues, but since they are fixing it, I think its safe to assume others have.

Its a match trigger. I am not sure what your performance increase is going to be. I love the trigger on my rifle. The 3 position safety is one of the upgrades on the HS system over the standard 700. I really don't see the advantage of dumping that.

As has been mentioned. The HTR is fully adjustable. I suppose you would gain the ability to cant your rifle, if you went to a 3 way. I have never had my stock shift or move unless I purposefully adjusted it. If you are going to modify the stock, why not just sell the old one and get a stock you like better with the 3 or 2 way buttplate already installed?

I did put a Tac Ops Bolt Knob on my rifle. I don't think it was needed, it was definately more of a want. The metal used in the bolt is 416 Stainless, so the conversion was not easy for the person I chose to install the bolt knob. He does quite a few on Remingtons and said the HTR was a much more difficult job when he finished. I would probably leave it alone unless you really had your heart set on it.

I don't know what your real gain in performance would be even skim bedding. The rifle was tuned at HS Precision and should shoot .5moa or better , mine does. I would spend more time making sure the torque was properly set. I dont' think you would hurt anything, I just wonder how much you would gain.

I really havent' done anything to my rifle other than the bolt knob. I think I would like to put a can on it, so maybe have the barrel threaded. I don't have a brake on mine, but I can see where some may think it would be a worthwhile addition. I think the rifle is heavy enough and the stock fits me well enough that the rifle is comfortable to shoot. I have thought about painting it occasionally, but have left it black thus far. I find it blends in better at the range and attracts less attention. I would just shoot the rifle as is. Use your money for ammunition or upgrade your optics.
