Need bipod recommendations

Re: Need bipod recommendations

really depends on how you'll be shooting.

the Harris will do EVERYTHING the atlas will do, except impress guys on here...but there's still much better out there. the new breed of "f-class" pods are much better to use if you'll be using a rear bag and letting the stock ride the bag. If you'll be using a "tactical bag" then i'd stick with a harris

Re: Need bipod recommendations

Harris is slower to deploy than an Atlas. The Atlas is nicer to shoot off of. I don'thave any hands on with anything else. This is just one noobs opinion.

Fixed it for ya. The Atlas is, indeed, very nice to shoot off of. I shoot primarily on hard packed dirt. Harris feet won't stick at all, and by the time you buy modified/upgraded feet for the Harris, you're pretty much up to the cost of an Atlas. The Atlas rides the recoil much better, and in my opinion, has a superior pan/cant/swivel.

The Harris dominates in speed. No faster way to deploy a bipod, just pull the legs into position and you're set.

Re: Need bipod recommendations

Have had a Harris for a long time, just got an Atlas. I like the Atlas over the Harris, particularly the feet, they stick a whole lot better. The Harris just slides when loaded.

I thought about getting my atlas fixed up with a pod-loc, picatiny quick release mount, different feet, panhead; but I figured I would just get the Atlas. I'm happy I did.

uhhhhh really?

The Atlas will PAN, the Harris does not.

Atlas legs have positivly retained positions, Harris does not.

So a bit more to it than what the casual observer might conclude.

ok...so it won't pan....my bad.

and what do you mean "positively retained positions"? you mean like leg knotches? cause...the harris does....

Atlas can positively retain the legs at various angles from the bottom of the rifle. Harris is limited to 0* and 90ish*

Re: Need bipod recommendations

Atlas. I have a fleet of Harris and just the one Atlas. Harris is a little quicker to deploy (for me), but for laying on the deck wringing steel all afternoon, I REALLY like my Atlas (it's on a GAP10).

Re: Need bipod recommendations

GSRswapandslow - No worries, just wanting to keep the facts and differences available. "and what do you mean "positively retained positions"? you mean like leg knotches? cause...the harris does..."

Sorry, I was not talking about the leg length adjustments, but leg positions as in deployed and folded or retracted. Spring loaded legs can get bumped into an accidental retraction, Atlas legs have positively retained positions, meaning you have to want to move them to do so.

I love my GG&G and I just ordered the newest one with pan adjustment.

The atlas was nice but I felt like there was too much play/ movement and it just didn't fit my preference.
