Gunsmithing Need concussion-proof light fixtures

Need lighting fixtures for a range to withstand the concussion from rifles and cannons having lots of muzzle blast.

Anyone know of a manufacturer making anything for mine work or other applications that are blast or concussion/overpressure resistant? Explosion proof fixtures aren't holding up.

Put fixtures in that have a tempered glass plate across the front of the bulb to shield it.

Find an electrical distributor, ask them about institutional ( correctional ) facility fixtures. Explosion proof fixtures work backward and won't d what you want.. They withstand explosive occurances inside the fixture and prevent gasses/flames from escaping.
Be prepared to bleed.

I would say the bulb is crapping out. You might try a metal halide or HPS wall mounted fixture. The elements are held ridig and it should be a good solution.

Might want to look at a induction light, goggle induction light, no filament to break, or discharge tube like sodium vapor or metal halide.
might be too pricy.

The fixtures are deconstructing from the blast, these are fluorescent tube type fixtures.

Sodium or metal halide really should do you well, they are expensive. But if you go look at the bulbs you will see what I am talking about as far as the internal parts are mounted rigid. I actuallu have some workers putting some up now, I will try to snap a pic of what I am refering to.

high pressure sodium give off an orangeish glow. you can tell the street lights that are HPS easily. metal halide is a whiter bluey light. you can get them from 1500w (ballfields,stadiums) to 175w in recessed can fixtures that you can use outside your house, parking garages. very high light output will allow you to mount them further from the source of concussion and still get the light you need.
