Need Data for Benelli R1 .300 Win Mag

Hi all,

I have a friend who has a Benelli R1 in .300 Win Mag and he has never gotten the rifle to shoot under 1.5 inches @100 yds with factory ammo.

Do you have any recipes that you found worked well?

Or maybe you can suggest a factory ammo that worked almost as well as handloads?

Not sure this will help you much but I had an R1 in 300WM as well and regardless of the ammo it basically shot about what your friend's is. I tried about every hunting load on the market as well as half a dozen or so "tried and true" handloads without any real change in performance.

What I did find is that there seems to be a good deal of variance between R1s and how well they shoot, with some being good and others not so good as was mine. Ultimately I ended up giving it to my brother-in-law who saw similar performance as did everybody and anybody that we had shoot it. In the end he sold it to a guy who seems satisfied with the level of accuracy for the hunting he does with it - mostly wild boar at ranges under 50 meters.
