Today I found a good deal on a Savage model 10 Predator Max 1 in .260 for my son. We'll use it mainly for deer hunting and occasionally on steel. I assume I can expect good accuracy out of it. Has anyone had any dealings with this model and if so what did you think?

As far as reloading I'm thinking of running 42 - 43gr of H4350 behind a 140gr SMK or maybe Bergers hunting VLD.what do ya'll think?

This will be my first outing with a .260, I shoot mainly 7mm mag or 7wsm

I have a model 10fcp in .308 that's shoots great. I am planning on putting a .260 barrel on it. I would recommend the Berger hvld. That is all I shoot in mine, they shoot great and do a great job on game.

I've been studying on getting one of those predator max 1s myself. Can't make my mind up between it and a 308 of some sort.

What's the end of the muzzle measure?

I'll check tonight after work and let you know.

That's a good idea. The hybrid is less sensitive on seating depth. I'm just not sold on it being a good hunting bullet.

The 4350 should be good. We have unreal results out of two of them in. 223 sub. 5 MOA from one in 6.5 creedmoor and one we are trying to get a load tuned in for another . 6.5 creedmoor. I would say that its a safe bet. There is something strange about the lands on the creedmoor. They go around in a circle. Not sure what that's all about.

I'm not sure how heavy their medium heavy barrel is either. It kinda reminds me of a Bartlein #15 hunter class contour.

I got a great deal on the rifle at $647, accu stock/trigger, fluted 24" barrel, cammo stock, and enlarged bolt knob.
