I'm looking for a hunting scope so clarity and low light performance are priority. From low to high price range I'm considering:
    Vortex diamondback (3-9x40)
    Leupold UltimateSlam (3-9x40)
    Vortex diamondback hp (2-8x32)
    Zeiss terra 3x (3-9x42)

So if anyone can weigh in on any of the 4, I'd appreciate it.

Edit: scope is for a savage 220 (hence the mix of shotgun and rifle scopes). Shots will range from 40-200 yards in anything from hardwood timber to picked fields.

Which firearm are you putting this scope onto? What type of hunting? Deep woods and thicket or beenfield, mountains, prairie?

Just asking because you have three rifle scopes and one shotgun/ML scope in your list.

As for low light and clarity, you really wont find it in either of those. The only thing going are the coatings on the Terra with the ED glass.

Best bet is to scour the optics threads here and look for a Used Leupold VX-3, or Zeiss Conquest.

I have the Leupold UltimateSlam scope with the s.a.b.r. reticle mounted on a Savage 220. The scope is very clear and bright. It picks up light really well for a 40mm objective. I have no complaints about it, other than the cost. FWIW I also have a Nikon Slughunter 3-9x40 with the BDC 200 reticle that has been a really good shotgun scope as well. Either scope will work well for you but if you hunt in the woods a lot, where the ambient light seems to fade quicker, the Leupold would be the better choice. Hope this helps. Danny
