Rifle Scopes Need help! DTA SRS 338 What scope in 2k to 2.5k?

I want to do it right the first time. I live close to USO factory and have always loved there scopes. I thought it would be nice to take them shooting on my land (21 acres) with there product. But on the other hand I'm not in the business of charity and want your honest opinion. I like big and chunky scopes that look like they can take a beating. I also like the Premier H. and IOR's
I'm open to your recommendations. I didn't want to go over 50mm
I will be shooting mostly in the 1000 to 1500 meter.

I just wrote an article on scope of this type and, incidentally, I did a lot of testing on my DTA SRS in 338LM.

For about 2k, I think Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 is probably the best allround choice, but I will be doing a Part 2 of the comparison, so perhaps I'll have other ideas afterwards.

Not for the price point the OP wants to stay in. OP look at the Razor, Nightforce, or maybe USO.

The last 2 of the S&B 5-25x56 scopes I picked up used were right about the 2.5k mark which is about right since new can be had for pretty close to the 3k mark depending on extra options.

I don't have a DTA or a 338, but I have placed rounds accurately out to 2300 yds. with the Razor. One feature I *REALLY* like about the EBR 2 reticle is the very small aiming dots in the "christmas tree". I can dial down/left 1 mil and use one of the dots to see clay pidgeons to nearly 2K. A nice side benefit.

I cannot say enough good things about this scope, and though Ilya felt the IOR 6-24 was a better "club", I would not hesitate to beat something senseless with this scope and then remount it without rezeroing. It's REALLY tough.

A little more mag. (25x) would be nice, but for lesss than $2K, you can't go wrong.

And considering the guy you were calling out for the scope recommendation, SR90, is the guy who builds the OPs rifle he is putting the scope on I might listen to him a little.

I believe SR90 shot that particular rifle with that S&B scope out to 2700 yards......just sayin.

Hey TT welcome to the forum.. I also have a DTA and I’m in the OC area, I’m assuming you’re probably around the Chino Hills area??...

I’m actually going to Angeles tomorrow to bang some steel at 600 yards with a few shooting buddies .. If you want to come out and shoot please do… Anyway I have a NXS 5.5x22x56 that I really like. You can defiantly pick one for under 2k and your more than welcome to try out my rifle with it and see if you like it..

The only place I really know where to shoot out to 1k+ is in the dessert just outside of Lancaster, were are shooting 2,000+ yards at big guy?

IDK if this matters but when I got my rings, Leopold mark 4, I had to get the super high / tall one’s so I would have enough clearance, you can see by the pic below I’m just above rail.

link did you shim those rings at all to give you additional moa to play with?
