need help on 30.06 bolt gun selection

hi guys, just found your site, looks good.
im down here in adelaide australia and need some different advice.
im looking to buy a large caliber bolt action rifle,i only hunt 3-4 times a year, during the day and also spotlighting at night.i want to start chasing pigs, goats, roos, donkeys, camels.
im fairly sold on the idea of 30/06,its been around for over 100 years and ive read its taken every animal known.
i look after my firearms but i prefer FUNCTION OVER FASHON,looking for a black poly stock, maybe stainless, detachable magazine, and a scope of some kind for under $1000 australian?
unsure of importing costings but to give you guys some idea on prices here a STEVENS MOD 200(BUSHNELL 3-9x40 SCOPE)30/06,NEW HERE COSTS $750 AUS

any help on brand of rifle and scope or caliber would be great
cheers
ray

Re: need help on 30.06 bolt gun selection

The old Winchester model 70 is not new fashion but effective. Not sure how well it will bring a camel down, but I assume they're slow enough and big enough to get more than one round in them.

Tikka t3 life is what I've got. 3 round mag plus 1 in the chamber. Accuracy is top notch, super light for lugging around and recoil is easily manageable. I picked mine up for $1150 but that's down in tassie where everything costs more!
