I am trying to order a stock for my cmp rem 40xb. Can anyone give me some guidelines as to what the barrel contour an lug size of the 40xb rifles is in language I can put into McMillans on-line ordering form?

thanks

I think std is 0.187 on recoil lug and varmit contour on barrel.

I would play it safe, as well as upping resale value and go one bogger on everything, meaning 0.25 on lug and just do a m40 contour on channel.

also get it inletted for bottom metal so you can get the repeater mod done! Either seekins or badger are the 2 that come to mind.

Good luck,
DT

Also, don't hesitate to email or call McMillan if you're unsure about anything. They are extremely helpful. I believe Dick Davis personally responds to most/all of the technical emails, and he'll help you get exactly what you want.

Ker,
I believe when you called Lynne you told her it was a .22LR.
The 40XB is a center fire rifle, usually in .308 Win. with a blind magazine and an ADL type trigger guard. Remington recoil lugs are .187" but you can just spec "factory lug". The barrel contour is what we call the 40XB contour.
The CMP 40X .22 rimfires are 40XR's and are all single shots with an ADL type trigger guard. There are actually two different barrel contours on the CMP rifles but most of them are similar to the factory 40XR barrel contour which is close to a Remington Varmint barrel contour. Asking for it to be inletted for a BDL floorplate will not allow you to convert it to a repeater rifle with a Badger or Seekins floorplate.
