Better than RCBS or Lee?
Not in that they will size all do the job, the more expensive dies usually have some additional aspects to them though. The generic full length and seater are all pretty cookie cutter.
When you start adding on other things they grown in price, micrometer top seater die is my number one want. It sucks to try and adjust seating depth with a crude coarse thread old school seater, having the micro top makes it easy to adjust an exact amount you want with no trial error etc. Need the bullet seated 20 thou deeper you just turn it in 20 thou according to the markings.
The second is whether its a full length sizer or a bushing sizer, the bushing allows you to select a bushing so you can control exactly how much you are working the case necks, with traditional full length dies it is what it is.
Carbide? For rifle no, carbide is not necessary. The only time I would spring for carbide is if you are doing straight wall pistol cartridges without lube, I would still probably lube them myself though. In rifle youll want to lube them even if you id get carbide dies so I dont see any tangible benefit to them.
I would probably go for the
forster sizer die and
their micro seater, the
redding master hunter or the
redding type s
Unless you dont really care about doing a whole lot of reloading and are only making ammo to shoot an animal once or twice a year, in that case just get whats cheapest.
Edit: avoid neck sizing dies
