Need help with 7mm-08 sps varmint

I have an sps varmint that I am trying to find a load for. I have tried 139 sst and varget. I got decent velocity but no accuracy to speak of. I have a couple questions.

1- Does anyone know what the twist rate is? I have seen places claim 9.25. Is this correct?
2- With that twist rate would the 162 A-max be a good bullet choice?

I bought it last month at a really good deal and mainly bought it for the action. I was going to build a .260 or .243 but now I am intrigued with the challenge of making this thing shoot. I have already addressed the tupperware stock issue so that shouldn't be a problem. I may wind up spending as much on different bullets and wasted powder as I would on a .260 barrel but it has become a challenge I want to win. When the barrel is gone then I can do one of the others.

Has anyone tried varget and the 162 A-max?
Does anyone have a pet load they may be willing to share for this rifle?
What kind of velocity can I expect with the 162 A-max out of the 26" barrel?

I am wanting to use it for 1000 yard target shooting. All help would be appreciated. Thanks

162 amax should work well in that, H4350 as well. Depending on how the chamber and mag is 168 berger vld is also worth a look.

Thanks for the input NC. I am limited on length because I am running a Badger m5 DBM. From what I have heard about the Bergers they like to be touching or jammed.

Anyone have a load I can work up to with the 162 A-max and h4350? If so, what kind of velocity are you getting out of what length barrel?

162's will make 1000 unless your pushing them at 2200fps or so. They are excilent bullets and I would absolutly give them a try.

Question, I didn't know they make a SPS Varment in 7-08, I'm guessing older model.

From what I understand Remington made them for a short time and then discontinued them. Never put them on their website or advertised them and then discontinued because nobody was ordering them.I bought this one new at my local shop last month. He had a couple of them.
