It has a Detachable carry handle, But I want to replace the whole system, How do I go by replacing the front and back sight? Also it is a 20 inch barrel, And I'm thinking about putting a newer for end on it.
Here is a picture of the rifle.

Do I replace the gas block for a smaller sight? Or should the standard be good enough for standard Magpul rear sight?

What is your goal to accomplish?

I'm not sure what you mean by putting a different end on it.

If you just want to add a different rear sight such as the Magpul all you need to do is remove your carry handle and change it. The front sight will work with it. If you are planning on removing the front sight it should be pinned in place and the pins will need to be punched out then it can be slid off the barrel.

If you are looking to change barrels that is easy enough. It might be far easier to just buy an upper in the configuration you want. Changing barrels does require extra tools. Those tools do add up in price. So if you are only going to change one barrel might not be work the extra expence.

Visit AR15.com and look for the "Build it yourself" tacked thread in the AR15 section of the forum. Detailed step-by-step process for the entire black rifle there including the removal of the A2 sight and replacement of a railed or lowpro gas block.

For the rear, just remove the carry handle and replace with any quality rail-mounted rear sight.

For the front, use a punch and hammer to knock out the two pins holding the sight tower in place. They are tapered and will only move one way, so be sure to hammer the smaller side. Support the bottom side of the sight tower with a piece of wood or something while you are hammering the pins out.

Once the front sight tower is removed, you can either add a gas block with a rail on top and place any quality rail-mounted front sight on it, or simply get a gas block that already has a built-in flip-up front sight.

Re: Need help with a A2 Style AR.

You'll need to remove the flash hider to slide the A2 front sight off the barrel, so you'll need an AR15 armorers wrench.

You'll probably need to put the upper in a bench mounted vise so you'll need an upper receiver vise block.

Re: Need help with a A2 Style AR.

You plan to use optics? What type if so? You looking to co-witness if going with a red dot or do you want the front sight completely out of the picture? That can help determine if you keep the current front sight and opt for a flip up rear. Some guys chop the front sight down, some replace it altogether. Like others have said, the front sight is pinned in place if you want to get rid of it.
