Hey guys I have the chance to purchase an FNH USA TSR .308 bolt gun. It is for a really good price brand new with brand new Meopta optic sitting on it as a bonus. What are your views of this rifle. It is the 24" barrel 1:12 twist hogue over molded green stock. I figure at the very least I use it for awhile strip the barrel off and build something better later. I would just like to get a feel from the community and anyone who has shot one before. Thanks ahead of time for all the help and comments.

Except it hasn't been trued by FNH as the SPR is...

My understanding is the Hogue stock on the FNHs has an aluminum bedding block, and is of *much* higher quality than the Hogue stock on the Remingtons.

Is that push-feed or controlled-round-feeding?

A buddy had a PBR with a push-feed bolt. His gun had a lot of fail-to-ejects where the extractor would let go of the case-head too early. The spent case would flip around and end up back in the receiver.

My SPR is controlled-round-feeding and has never had a problem with feeding or extraction.

Get that FN. The Hogue stock is great.
Full aluminum bedding block.
Action is silk.
I would love to someday own an SPR.
You will love that FN
The NEAR base/rail is tops.
But what you are getting is a TSR XP
The USA TSR XP is 223
I believe she will be dbm as well
I just got the TSR XP in 300WSMthe and LOVE it!
I love my Savage too.......but this FN is really slick
Did I mention the action is butter smooth?
Yours will be controlled round feed
Only the USA 223TSR is push feed

Re: Need help with an FN bolt rilfe

Man, considering the SPR is not only true but also has that chrome line barrel......that is a seriously nice factory rifle!
I kinda want one just for the hell of it now lol!
I've already got the TSR 300WSM and damn nice Savage FCP-SR
So, its kinda hard justifying an SPR..........Honestly though
I do kinda wished Id have known the SPR's were true from
factory.......

TCW,

My suggestion is to shoot it for a while, like you suggested in you first post. I think only you will know if you like the stock. You've seen two differing opinions on the stock already.

The action is the same as the SPR, except that it is not trued, as Turbo indicated, but also has the three-lever MOA trigger instead of the SPR's two-lever old-style M-70 trigger. Again, you will get many opinions on the triggers, but both are adjustable. Shoot the MOA for a awhile, you may find it completely fills you needs.

Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the rifle.
