Hey everyone I'm new to the site and looking for some help to zero my rifle.

I have a Q Fix .308 with a 16" 1/10 twist barrel. I'm shooting Hornady ELD-X 178gr that chronos at 2408. Using a Leupold Mk-5HD 3.6-18x44 mounted on a 1.54" Reptilia AUS mount which puts me at right around 2.5" inches over bore.

I zeroed in at 100 yards and am stacking rounds at that distance but when I move out to 200, 300, 400 and so on my BC Calculator is putting me high at all distances until like 600 yards. Coincidentally if I set my zero to 200 yards in the app all of my come ups match what I was writing down on the range for my 100 yard zero.

Any ideas?

Use Gravity Ballistics

The Calculators have to be trued, they will not work out of the box the way you envision. They are not just drop in the numbers and go.

Dope the rifle with Gravity Ballistics then true the calculator with the numbers from GB

Start at 200 or 300, either 2 MOA or .5 Mils at 200

Understand too, your Q Fix has a super short barrel, the numbers will be much different because you have no velocity

So nothing is averaged to a 16" barrel, most are averaged to 24" hence your dilemma

Gravity Ballistics will true as you go, work much easier than chasing an App that hates a 16" barrel.

Okay thanks a lot I'll try this. I've been using GeoBallistics and figured that when all the inputs are correct the BC Calculator would get pretty close.

I’m not an expert, but double check the BC you input, your input MV, your input twist, altitude, humidity, temp, baro etc.

How high were your impacts vs app predictions?
