Rifle Scopes Need help with ring height & choice

So I just ordered a new Bushnell HDMR from Scott at Liberty Optics and I'm getting ready to order a Leupold 15MOA base. I need to figure out what height rings I need so I was wondering if anyone could assist. Yes I know there is a sticky posted above that talks about how to measure to get the right height, but I don't know the height of the Leupold base and I can't find it posted anywhere so I don't know where to start. Any ideas or recommendations for height and brand?

Duh, my bad! It's a stock Remington 700p.

Seekins Low 34mm rings will work just fine. If you cant find those, just use the height dimension when you compare other brands.

In addition to the Seekins rings, I would go with Seekins one-piece base if you have not purchased the other yet. The full-length Seekins pic rail will give more flexibility in ring/scope positioning. BTW, you will want the base with #6 screws.

I don't know why but I'm not a fan of the extended bases. The Seekins rings look nice, I've also been looking at Badger. Seekins doesn't list (or at least I can't find it) the height from the midline of the scope to the top of the rail, so I don't know what size I need.

Any other ideas?

I think I'm going to go for the Seekins rings. I was thinking I should go steel but these seem pretty highly recommended. Is there any benefit in steel?

So I tried to order the Leupold base and the Seekins rings from SWFA, but unfortunately both are out of stock. I just got my Bushnell HDMR from Liberty Optics, but I have nothing to mount it with. I may go for some Badger rings instead, but I'm curious about eye relief on the scope as it pertains to mounting position. Now I'm wondering if the Leupold base would be too short. Do you think that length base would be a problem at all?

I personally have not found a need for "extended" bases on standard bolt guns with a variety of scopes; instead, I'm typically running the scope towards the <span style="font-style: italic">rear</span> of the base. Anything extending beyond the front of the receiver is just wasted material for me.

Typically, I don't see a need for steel rings. A chunk of aluminum in that size and shape is pretty damn strong. Just don't do anything silly when tightening the hardware (a small torque wrench is your friend).

I have a 700 AAC - SD in 308 with a Bushnell Elite Tactical 6 X 24 X 50 and the G2DMR reticle. I started with a 20 MOA base and it just seemed to be not enough on the rifle.

I then changed to this arrangement. Rings are Trijicon TR104 30mm Standard with a 40 MOA Nightforce base. It is dead on at 100 yards when dialed to the maximum low side. And gives 19 mil of elevation on my rifle. Which is the full range of the scope in elevation. Loading a 178 Hornady at 2675 fps.

You may wish to start with a Nightforce 40 MOA base and standard rings. This will put the adjustment dead on the bottom of the adjustment and you can use it as a zero stop for the scope.

I also called Bushnell and asked them about having this scope maxed out at 100 and they stated that there would not be an issue of any kind.

If you wish to play it safe get a 30 MOA base and it will give you plenty of room for scope adjustment for different loads. That would give you about 15 mil of elevation and about 5 mil under. Not Cheap for base and rings about $200 + mid range pricing but worth every penny.

In my case 15 MOA would have left the scope with more adjustment in the lower side than in the elevation side. It will only give you about 5 mils elevation. The 20 MOA gave me 9.5 mils up and 9.5 mils down.
