I'm kind of in a pickle. I drew a Wyoming elk tag this year and really want my new gun for this hunt however my action isnt scheduled to show up untill August and I would need the rifle by October 1st. I am looking for suggestions on someone who could accomplish this for me (has to be a good builder obviously I was going to use ha precision but they have a 6 month wait) I have a defiance action manners stock proof barrel building a 338 lapua. Any help would be great fully appreciated.

Id second LRI.

Stewart rifles built a complete rifle for me about 6 mo ago, with a two week turnaround. First time I used him. Gun's a laser. That was with no special arrangements. Whatever you do, make sure whomever you choose is aware of your situation.

I can't PM you but email me at bryanghadley at gmail.com and I have a guy that did a complete build in 1 month for a hunt we had too

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

Another Thumbs up for the team at LRI. I supplied all the parts and they built my 6.5x47 Lapua in a week. With shipping turn around it was a little over two weeks from north Texas. Like every rifle I seen from them (4 count so far), it's a tack hammer. Great folks to deal with as well.

Chad and crew Are fast. Many others are too with all parts in hand.
My rifle from LRI (700 group buy, dropped in HS stock with no bedding) put the first 10 rounds of factory ball ammo just under an inch. Its a 223 Rem and that was federal 55 gr fmj and under a half with factory match ammo.

What kind if action are you waiting on?

I agree, LRI does excellent work and has great turnaround times. But, sounds like you already have a stock. Seems like Chad doesn't like to bed an already inlet stock. He usually starts with a blank, and inlets himself. So, better call him and discuss.

I recommend Josh at PVA, user bohemr13 here at the Hide. Excellent gunsmith and engineer. He did my last build. Super fast turnaround and awesome work

I had my 6.5WSM built by Jonathan Stigall of Crimson Accuracy in Cresson, Texas. Jonathan is a former employee of S&S Precision who opened his own shop when Stick sold S&S and retired. I sent him my action and stock, he got the Kreiger barrel, ordered a reamer, built the rifle and had it back to me in under three weeks. The damn thing is a laser. My first 3 rounds were used to get a rough zero, then I fired 7 rounds of all different charge weights, like a ladder test, just looking for pressure signs. Those 7 rounds landed in about 1moa. When I went back and did group testing, all groups were sub 1/2 moa with my final load hovering around 1/4 moa. I'm running 140gr HVLD's at 3230 with a SD of 7fps.

Clay Spencer is the fastest I've seen for custom work.

He builds some very nice Bench rest stuff, and seems to have a bit of history with his 1/4" guaranteed hunting rifles.

I rode up to his shop with a friend to drop off parts and his complete rifle was done and back in his hands in LESS than a week.
