NEED SOME HELP FELLAS

Found a means of installing a BT17 rail to the bottom of my buttstock on my B&C A5 Medalist.

Now, the question is, which B&T AccuShot do I purchase?

I obviously need a PRM model and I want one of the QK's. I'm ordering one next Friday 8/3; however, last time at my folks' place I forgot to hold rifle level and measure from bottom of buttstock to surface. I'm not able to get back down there to perform any measurements before next week.

I have a Harris 6-9 HOWEVER plan on purchasing an Atlas in the near future and need this monopod to work properly with both bipods.

The Atlas has an elevation range of 4.75"-9" which is shorter than that of the Harris.

I'd like as many recommendations as possible on which of the two would suit my needs best. I'll be shooting from both prone and bench.

I'd estimate the thickness of the rail to be .25 (it's en route to me now) and would prefer feedback from those who have rail mounted AccuShot monopods.

BT12-QK - 3.75 - 4.65"

BT13-QK - 4.75 - 5.65"

Thank you kindly to all....

Re: NEED SOME HELP FELLAS

The BT12 will be fine unless you plan to shoot up or downhill.you will be surprised how much movement you get with one inch, especially at long ranges. I use one for 600+ yards and I think it's almost too much movement but of course that's just my opinion.

Roger, yeah....I figured the BT12 would work okay, I just didn't know if being that the Harris is actually taller, if I needed the BT13 in the interim until I got the Atlas and then if it would be too tall afterwards.

Anybody else?

Re: NEED SOME HELP FELLAS

Get the BT12-QK. It should be fine with your Harris until you get an Atlas. I run a BT10-LW17 and BT-QK on my KRG in which they really go well together. I usually use a rear bag more times then not. The monopod is good to have but rear bags just work better,IMO.

Re: NEED SOME HELP FELLAS

cool....thanks bud.

didn't know if the shorter monopod would provide both enough height once extended to level the gun when both Harris and Atlas bipods are fully extended to 9 inches as well as be short enough for the Harris and Atlas once collapsed to 4.75" and 6" respectively.

any other responses are welcome.

thanks again....

Re: NEED SOME HELP FELLAS

one thing to keep in mind is that the bottom of the butt stock can sit anywhere from 3 to 6 inches lower than the rail on the front of the stock where the bipod mounts to.

Also, i usually only need the monopod when i am shooting prone so i need a shorter monopod for my rifle to angle upwards. I guess it just depends on how you will be shooting.

Here is a picture of the BT12-QK monopod on my AR with a GG&G bipod which is collapsed at 7.5" and can expand to 9.5" and as you can see, it looks pretty level with the bipod collapsed.

Hope this helps...
