I had a RPR 6.5 Creedmoor that got me hooked on long range shooting. I’ve never made headshots (on paper) at 800+ yards before, it made me feel like a stud.

I ended up selling that rifle and Vortex Viper PST Gen2 Glass to a buddy and I’m looking to buy or build a replacement.

I have a 7-35FFP ATACR on its way to me (which was a shot in the wallet and balls), and I’m having trouble deciding whether I want to buy a complete rifle from a well known builder, or buy a stock and action and build my own.

The rifle I buy will be chambered in 6.5Creedmoor since I already load that and have plenty of components. I shoot paper and steel our to 300yd weekly and I have a 1000yo range I can use occasionally. I’m also going to scout some places where I can shoot longer ranges safely with my steel.

Max budget for the rifle is $4k. I was looking at the AIAT Due to excellent reviews on here- which is at the highest range of my budget, but I also really like the look and feel of the manners stock, and and was considering getting a Rukus action or similar and a proof barrel, as it seems pretty easy to install. I think all said and done the prices would be similar for either rig.

What else do I need to be thinking about.

Thanks!

Get the AIAT

I have factory rifles, customs rifles, AIAT and ATACR. The best combo I own is my AIAT and ATACR. It’s a absolute beast.

Mine has the quickloc which lets you change barrels in about 2 minutes

I would go with a defiance action and prefit barrel along with a tt diamond. Drop it in a manners and call it a day. Use your savings towards the trip to go shooting at the place you’ve been wanting to go. Wherever that might be for you, mine is out west for some extreme long range shooting.
