I need the collective wisdom of the Hide on this one. I'm looking for the right scope to put on my Rem 700 SPS .308 AAC-SD build, which is to be a rifle for hunting and for long-range shooting to 800 yards or so, maybe 1000 yards tops. So far it's going to have a Bell and Carlson Stock, a KRG Bolt Lift, a Timney trigger, and a Nightforce scope rail. I have the heavy-duty rings (both low and medium, depending on what scope I choose), now I just need a scope. I was originally going to use a Leupold VX-R Patrol 3-9x40 because I love the clarity on the hunting-oriented models, but then I got a good look at the Patrol's reticle, and I don't think it's workable. Also looked at a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x42 FFP, but was disappointed by the brightness of the glass compared to the Leupold. Loved the reticle though. So what I'm looking for is a scope that has:

1. The clarity and low-light capabilities of the Leupold VX-R Patrol, as well as the nicely-proportioned target turrets;
2. The features and functions (and magnification properties) of the Vortex, with a similar (lighted) reticle or lit micro-dot;
3. The repeatability of the setting and resetting with the turrets of both scopes; and
4. A price of less than $900.

I'd appreciate any pointers, as well as suggestions on scopes that fit the above description. What won't be helpful is comments suggesting I bite the bullet and get a Nightforce, or Schmidt and Bender, or any other ELR, high-speed/low-drag, SPECOPS gotta-have ultra-elite Hubble-Signature-Model scope. I'm saving my pennies for that scope on my next build, which will be an ELR rifle in 300 Win Mag or 7mm Rem Mag. Again, thanks in advance for any and all suggestions you can provide.
