I need some suggestions on barrel selection for a 20", 1:8 twist barrel. It doesn't matter if it is ss or chrome moly. Also, it can't be a heavy barrel, only mid-weight or similar. The budget is about $300, but can go over if need be.

The uses for this rifle once completed will be coyote and varmint hunting and paper punching.

JP Rifles. jprifles.com. I've put over 12K through their 1:8 twist bbls and they are a hammer. Incredibly accurate....they make a smokin rifle too.

Rock River uses Wilson 20" 1:8 heavy stainless barrels. Have one on my Varmint A4 from them, accuracy is perfect.

Call Frank White at compass lake and get him to turn a medium contour Douglas or Kreiger for you.

for $399 you can get a 20" BCM upper minus bcg and hand guards.
I have the 20" BCM and love it, but everything mentioned above is good. I dont think you are going to find a garbage barrel from any known maker
