Rifle Scopes Needing info on a swfa 3-15x42

I got one back in November and the glass was horrible and wouldn't focus with any amount of adjustment, it didn't track and it didn't maintain zero. Everyone said it was an anomaly so I sent it in and they shipped me another one. The glass looks a lot better but I still haven't put it on a rifle - just kinda put off by that first one. It's probably fine but it still sits new in a box.

For your uses I'm sure it's fine. I wanted it for a 300wm and shooting out to 500-600yds.

I've got a FFP version I got on their black friday sale last year. I'm very happy with it. Glass is good especially for the price and it appears to be well made. Turrets are kinda mushy but they track very well. It's an older design and look but very effective. I'd buy again.

I shot one for a while and had a great experience with it. Used it on a .308 and later on an AR. The glass was good for the money, tracked perfectly and never had an issue with it. It accompanied me to the range a lot and I tagged multiple deer with it over a couple of years. It's a pretty good value for the money. Later sold it just because I wanted illumination.

It is a really nice scope and an excellent value. I use it on my rimfire trainer. It tracks like the best of them and has excellent repeatability and RTZ. It focuses to 10 yards which is awesome. It is rugged as hell.

The glass is so so when compared to my other scopes but I would not say it is bad at all. Turret feel could be better as they are a little mushy.

I haven't seen another scope at that price that I would trust as much. You can also find them used here pretty often. I bought mine from another member for $600 with some accessories.

How's the glass on it?

Not as good as my Athlon Argos and Talos BTR's but good enough. Mine don't focus with the side focus set all the way to infinity past 700Y well. Like it needs a tad more adjustment but is at it's limit. That's part of the reason it came out of the safe and onto the 300BO. I rate it a 5 out of 10 in glass with S&B being a 9 and barfska being a 2.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I'm going to buy one and try it out. was hoping to find one on here used but getting to inpatient, the weather is finally starting to brake and I want to shoot my new blackout I put together.

Swfa normally puts all ss scopes on sale around tax day and black friday and If I remember correctly it's usually 20-25 percent off. If you can I would wait a couple of weeks.

I'm having a really hard time trying to decide between the swfa 3-15 or another vortex 4-16 hst. I like the vortex but I thought about trying something new. What do you guys think?

I have 2, 3-15x ffp SWFA scopes. Both are extremely accurate and track well. Worth every penny.

I once owned a Vortex Pst and a Hst. The HST crosshair is garbage. And never could get the scope to focus to my eyes. The PST was a little bit better. But wasnt head over heals about it. Sold both of them and replaced them with SWFA. Glad I did.

Thank you. I think I'm going to order the swfa

Last fall my friend had to send his HST back for repair. Worked fine for a few outings afterwards but dope was way off "again" last time we went out. So here we go again.

Owning the SS 1-6, 3-9, and 5-20, I bought a FFP 3-15 last November during the black Friday sale. I wanted something with a very adjustable parallax for a CZ 455 PT. For the money the SS 3-15 fit the bill. I'd have preferred the 3-15 in HD versus the classic line, but again, for the price and my uses it's been fine. The value for dollars spent, compared to just about anything else out there is hard to beat - in my humble opinion.

How well do you like cz 455? I'm looking for an affordable bolt action 22.

So far I'm loving it. I went with the CZ 455 PT for a few reasons. 1. CZ's are known to be pretty good shooters. 2. The precision trainer comes with a manners stock. I did pillar the rear & bed it. 3. I wanted a heavy barrel that was threaded for a suppressor.

As for affordable, that's for you to decide. The rifle & 4 10 round mags cost $740 - directly from CZ-USA - that's with CZ's mil/LE/public safety program. Add to that the cost of a Murphy's Precision base, Seekins rings, Aadland scope caps, & SS 3-15 scope, Seekins PRS rail (for mounting bipod), & Atlas bipod............... I shot way past what I'd call affordable. I just ordered a trigger guard, metal mag well, metal magazine block, & extended mag release from Dip,inc to finish it up - it's taken on a life of its own!

The thing is, no one else makes a decent (affordable) bolt .22 that comes out of the box with a decent stock - in my opinion. I could have gone Savage, but their Tupperware stock sucks balls. However, now McRee is making a chassis for the Savage .22 - but that will cost you around $460.00 if I recall correctly. They make the same chassis now for the CZ 455.

At the end of the day, I'd buy a CZ again. If I didn't want the heavy threaded barrel, I may have looked at models without the manners stock & put the money saved towards a McRee chassis. Still, that may push the price beyond "affordable". Then you still need a scope base, rings, & scope. Honestly, I never thought I'd put this much into a .22, but I can say I'm happy with it & have no buyers remorse.

Another option, although not a bolt gun, is the Henry .22 small game carbine or rifle. It's a lever action, and not tactical, but it does have a fun factor all it's own. These can be had through Brownell's for under $400.00 shipped to your FFL. If your not in Iowa, you don't get charged sales tax - at least I didn't here in MN.
