Im not up to speed on rimfire pistols. I've been lookin for a Ruger MKII, MKIII, or even a Buckmark. At a local gunshop I found what appears to be a new/unfired (may not be, but it's mint) Ruger MKII. It has the matte black finish and the short skinny barrel. The price on the MKII is $225. My plan was to buy this and then buy a Pac-Lite threaded/fluted upper. I was then going to try to sell the factory MKII upper and recoup some cost. So, I have 4 questions.

1.) Is $225 a fair price on a mint MKII pistol? I know they are harder to find, but this one has the least sought after barrel.

2.) What is a fair price to try to sell the factory MKII upper for?

3.) Where is a good place to get a Pac-Lite upper?

4.) Is my plan the best idea cost wise?

The upper is the registered part, so it may be cheaper to find a bottom half and go from there.

I have the KMK512 model - stainless, 5.5" bull barrel - and the new Mk IIIs I see in the same configuration are priced around 450. And the MkIIs I see in the same config run about that as well.

225 is a good price for that model - just checked completed GB auctions and there are some that were bid up to 275 range

From what I've been able to find, I'd still be better off buying the complete pistol for $225 rather than a complete lower. The ones I've seen are $200-$300 just for the frame (some of those are stripped).

At $225.00 for a complete pistol, I would certainly buy it. I have the same pistol in stainless, and paid a lot more 10 years ago. Wouldn't mind owning another one some day.
