I recently picked up a nice new Kurki made in Nepal off Ebay. I had heard about them for years and even had a cheap Indian made one some time back. The Nepali knife is unreal, it is 5/8 of an inch thick yet is razor sharp and chops like an axe. There are some cool videos on Youtube about how they are made from truck leaf springs. If anyone is thinking of getting one I highly recomend it.

I have a couple dozen of them that my guards have giving to me, and yes, they're outstanding knives and great for hard core utility work. Glad you like yours too!

My main issue with getting one has been buying something from a company based in Kathmandu. I got lucky and found an unused 2012 dated one from a guy in NJ. Surprised there is not a importer here in the US. There are tons of the crappy Indian ones.

Atlanta Cutlery had a bunch of old ones from Nepal and Burma...some civies and some military (Ghurka). It has been a few years tho. Might be worth a question if you are interested in them.

Sorry, haven't been back to this one in a bit.

I stay simple on them. Some are magnificent display knives, but others are for actual use and carry. Blade length of around 8-10" is best as any shorter you don't get the chop and any longer you don't have something that is able to be used well. The big ceremonial ones will sure lay through the neck of a goat in one swipe though. Those have a blade length in the 18-22" range.

The OEF/OIF ones are rather nice in particular...
