Re: Nephews first televised fight

What I'm most proud about is the message he's sending. Here's some posts on his facebook page.

"I just read one of the articles on your upcoming fight. I am the mother of a 2.5 year old who also is a congenital ampute (left arm somewhere by the wrist). We all love to watch MMA and actually live about 2 hours south of Tampa Bay. He is already working on his ground and pound. When he was first born they told us all the things he will never do and he has done them all so far. We try to let him try anything and everything he wants. At what age would you recommned starting him in athletics and which type? Good luck on the 2nd. I have a close friend also who trains out of the Jungle in Orlando"

"I'm a small time MMA fighter from Seattle, WA and I saw some of you stuff. Made me realize I can always keep going and that if it's worth it to you, you'll be able to tell. Thanks for the inspiration."

"After I watched you take down that guy and almost broke his leg with only one arm, my dad told me to never say I can't. With your handicap and success, I've learned that I can do anything if I have the right attitude and put my mind to it. Than you for showing me that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. You're amazing and inspiring to me and I can't wait to see more of your fights."

NO excuses, no surrender. Dude, you're badass! You are a true inspirational not because of your disability; it's because you refuse to have no limits. The sad thing people with no disabilities seem to have more limits than those without. Respect bro.

My son is autistic and thinks you are fabulous! You really do inspire him. He is a big fan! Thank you for all your hard work, Congrats!

I met Nick Newell Saturday 12/3/11 the night after his fight. I was with my son and 2 of his wrestling teammates as they just finished a wrestling tournament. We were in Tampa going on a trolly to Channelside Hooters where he noticed the kids with their wresling jackets and he spoke to us. He told us he fought the night before and won but he was so nice and humble about it I didn't think much of i...t. Not to mention he only has one hand. As we were waiting for our table I googled him and was amazed at what I found. What a great story and person he is. I went and disturbed him to take this picture with the kids. I told him he had new fans here in Tampa for life. A short while after this picture was taken he came by our table and talked to the kids for about 10 mins. They were so amazed with him and probably are bragging at school right now. All I can say is Nick I wish you all the best in the world in your professional career and may God Bless you. You are a great young man and we will follow your career. Thank you for taking the time for the kids you have no idea how much that meant to them and me!

So I let Jack watch your fight on you tube. He got so excited when I showed him that you had an arm like his. He loves watching mma fights and wrestle with his daddy. He was screaming at the computer rooting for you. Anyhoo congrates on your win. You have been a great inspiration for my little boy.

Re: Nephews first televised fight

Good showing by a man of will!

A few months ago, a Hider made a post about his brother who was injured in a car accident when a child. The man had some serious injury to his head. Surgeries were rough. He was a triathlete, I believe.

Makes me feel like a slug packing around extra pounds and otherwise healthy.

Thanks for the post.
